Job summary

PERSEROAN TERBATAS - BADAN SYNERGY OIL NUSANTARA in Batam seeks an experienced Research and Development Executive to lead product development, QA, and laboratory activities. You will oversee formulations, materials, and technical data while ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support trials, improvements, and customer support, driving innovative FMCG/oleochemical solutions and maintaining ISO 17025/IMS standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in R&D, laboratory, QA, or related technical functions, preferably within FMCG, food, or oleochemical industries.
• Strong knowledge of R&D, product development, laboratory testing, and quality assurance.
• Hands-on experience operating laboratory instruments such as ICP, GC, Rancimat, SFC, or other relevant analytical instruments.
• Good understanding of ISO 17025, IMS, Quality Management System, and relevant standards/certifications.
• Knowledge of product specifications, raw materials, formulation, testing, and quality requirements.
• Understanding of laboratory calibration, method validation/verification, and troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, research, and reporting skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Good command of written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve new products, materials, formulations, and processes in accordance with business and technical requirements.
• Manage product specifications, formulations, technical data, BOM, artwork, labels, and other R&D-related documentation.
• Evaluate new raw materials and supporting materials, including specifications, technical documents, and supplier/manufacturer approvals.
• Conduct laboratory testing and ensure proper operation, maintenance, calibration, and verification of laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Support analytical method development, validation, verification, troubleshooting, and evaluation of test results.
• Prepare technical reports, product development documentation, laboratory SOPs, and work instructions.
• Collaborate with Technical Support, QA, Production, Marketing, and other relevant departments to support product development, trials, and technical improvements.
• Provide technical support to customers in optimizing product performance, processing parameters, and application conditions.
• Support investigation and resolution of quality issues, non-conformities, customer complaints, and other technical issues.
• Implement and continuously improve the Integrated Management System (IMS) and ensure compliance with applicable quality, food safety, and regulatory requirements.
