Lead Completion Engineer

Role Purpose:
Ensure the implementation of high-quality Completion & Well Engineering practices in accordance with Mubadala Energy Drilling Well Engineering Standards (DWES), company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Provide technical leadership, drive safe and reliable well delivery, and support operational decision-making throughout the South Andaman development drilling campaign.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Lead the design, planning, and execution of well completion programs, ensuring compliance with DWES, regulatory procedures, and good oilfield practices.
- Develop robust completion concepts and detailed designs, with strong emphasis on deepwater completions and sand control (e.g., OHGP, OHSAS).
- Provide technical leadership as the focal point for completion engineering during preparation and execution phases, supporting 24-hour drilling and completion operations.
- Integrate effectively with drilling, subsurface, well services, and other multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality well delivery.
- Prepare and review completion-related operational programs, decision trees, risk assessments, and contingency plans.
- Support real-time operations, providing critical analysis, troubleshooting, and decision-making for completion activities in remote and offshore environments.
- Ensure all operational processes adhere to company policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and international standards.
- Identify, report, and escalation any unsafe conditions, non-conformances, or operational risks.
- Support preparation and management of completion-related contracts as required.
Qualifications include but are not limited to the following:
Education:
- Minimum bachelor's degree inPetroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
Experience:
- Minimum 15 years of oil & gas experience across multiple locations.
- Strong expertise in sand control completions (e.g., OHGP, OHSAS).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Indonesia, preferably with exposure to remote drilling operations.
- Experience supporting drilling & completion contracts and contractor management.
- Familiar working in high-activity drilling campaigns with multidisciplinary teams.
- Open to national and expatriate candidates.
Technical & Management Skills:
- Minimum 10 years designing and executing well completions, including proven track record in deepwater projects.
- Strong competency in completion engineering, including design, tubing stress analysis, sand control methods, and deepwater completion technologies.
- Ability to lead well readiness reviews, risk assessments, and basis of design documentation.
- Experience supporting real-time operations and making timely technical decisions under pressure.
- Strong understanding of well integrity, well barrier philosophy, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and ability to mentor junior engineers.
- Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
