PT BERGER PAINTS INDONESIA is seeking an R&D chemist to develop solvent-based coating formulations aligned with product requirements and market needs. You will optimize existing formulations for performance, quality, cost, and raw-material efficiency, and run laboratory trials and product testing.
The role involves evaluating resins, pigments, additives, solvents, and other coating materials, troubleshooting quality issues, and driving reformulation and cost-optimization projects.
Develop new solvent-based coating formulations according to product requirements and market needs.
Improve and optimize existing formulations in terms of product performance, quality, cost, and raw material efficiency.
Conduct laboratory trials, formulation experiments, and product performance testing.
Evaluate and select appropriate resins, pigments, additives, solvents, and other coating raw materials.
Conduct troubleshooting and technical investigations related to product quality and performance.
Perform reformulation and cost optimization projects.
Support product commercialization, production trials, and scale-up activities from laboratory to manufacturing.
Collaborate with Production, Quality, Technical Service, Sales, and other cross-functional teams.
Prepare technical documentation, formulation records, test results, and R&D development reports.
Stay updated on new technologies, raw materials, and developments in the paint and coatings industry.

Bachelor's Degree (S1) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in Research & Development, preferably in the paint and coatings industry.
Strong hands-on experience in solvent-based coating formulation and product development.
Good knowledge of:
Experience in product troubleshooting, reformulation, and cost optimization.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good project management and documentation skills.
Able to work independently and manage multiple development projects.
Good communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
