As a Senior Category Growth Manager you will be a key member of the Category departement. This is a strategic role responsible for shaping and driving category and brand-led growth strategies across all offline channels.
You will act as the category owner and strategic business partner for Personal Care or Skincare portfolios, translating shopper insights and market data into winning commercial strategies. Working closely with Sales, Key Account, and Retail Marketing teams, you will ensure the category wins at shelf through superior insight, strong portfolio strategy, and channel excellence.
Unlike execution-focused roles, this position is centered on strategy, decision influence, ensuring alignment between brand ambition, customer reality, and category growth priorities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Category Leadership & Strategy Development
- Lead the end-to-end category growth strategy for Personal Care / Skincare across offline channels
- Define category vision, roles, and growth architecture, including st.rategic segments, consumer missions, and channel-specific priorities.
- Build and own the multi-year category growth roadmap, aligned with brand strategy, commercial objectives, and business priorities.
- Identify structural growth opportunities and long-term category white spaces.
2. Channel & Customer Strategy (Offline Channels Expertise)
- Act as strategic partner to Key Account & Sales leadership in shaping customer Joint Business Plans (JBPs).
- Influence assortment, shelving, pricing architecture, and space strategy based on shopper behavior and channel dynamics.
- Develop differentiated strategies for each offline channels and drive channel segmentation strategy to maximize relevance and penetration across trade formats.
3. Insight-Led Growth & Performance Management
- Lead advanced analysis using Nielsen, Kantar, and internal sales data to identify category performance drivers.
- Translate complex data into clear, actionable strategic recommendations for leadership decision-making.
- Track category health including market share, penetration, value growth, price architecture, and shopper behavior shifts.
- Proactively identify risks, underperformance areas, and growth whitespace opportunities.
- Own portfolio strategy for Personal Care / Skincare, including SKU rationalization, innovation priorities, and channel-specific assortment design.
- Define price-pack architecture (PPA) aligned with consumer segments and channel roles.
- Partner with Pricing and Revenue Growth Management (RGM) teams to ensure profitable growth without brand dilution.
- Provide strategic input into NPD and innovation pipeline, ensuring strong channel and shopper readiness.
5. Promo & Commercial Strategy Alignment
- Set strategic direction for promotion architecture and trade investment effectiveness by channel.
- Ensure promotional strategy builds category value and brand equity, not just short-term volume.
- Evaluate promo effectiveness and recommend optimization based on ROI and shopper impact.
6. Cross-Functional Leadership & Influence
- Act as the category voice in senior business forums, influencing decisions across Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain.
- Partner closely with:
- Head of Sales / Key Account Directors (customer strategy & JBPs)
- Retail Marketing (in-store execution alignment)
- Brand Teams (portfolio and innovation strategy)
- RGM / Finance (pricing and profitability governance)
- Drive alignment across functions to ensure end-to-end category execution readiness.
Leadership Scope
- Expected to operate with high autonomy and strategic ownership.
- Regularly engage with senior stakeholders and regional/global teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Economics, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in Category Management, Trade Marketing, or Sales Strategy within FMCG.
- Strong background in Personal Care / Skincare categories is mandatory.
- Excellent communication in English is a strong advantage
- Deep understanding of Indonesia offline retail landscape (MT & GT).
- Strong command of Nielsen, Kantar, retail audit tools, and advanced Excel/PowerPoint.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive cross-functional alignment.
- Strong strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and storytelling skills with data.
