Job summary

Grab is seeking a senior backend engineer to design and own scalable services powering payments and other fintech features in Southeast Asia. You will take ownership of complex problems end to end, drive architecture decisions, and raise the bar through rigorous reviews and strong technical judgment.

You will report to the Engineering Manager in Jakarta and collaborate with product, data, and infra teams to deliver reliable, observable systems in production across multiple markets.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent practical experience in computer science or engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, operation of scalable backend services and platform components.
• Convert product requirements into technical solutions and drive design discussions.
• Oversee high-quality code delivery with testing, performance, observability, and code reviews.
• Partner with product, business, mobile, web, data, and infrastructure teams to solve end-to-end challenges.
• Improve service reliability via monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis.
• Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership during production incidents.
• Mentor engineers through coaching, design reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Identify and guide improvements in engineering processes and productivity.
