Job summary

Shopee in Indonesia is hiring for a backend-focused role to design and build high-performance gateway services and AI agent execution environments. You will contribute to a unified backend architecture and toolchains that empower engineers to ship reliable, scalable systems.

You will develop data access layers, service frameworks, and SDKs, while collaborating across tech teams to improve efficiency, latency, and safety of agent execution. Experience with scalable backend systems is valued.

Responsibilities

• Design and build Gateway Services with high performance and reliability.
• Build foundational capabilities for AI agents — execution environments, tool infrastructure, memory and context services.
• Develop unified data access layer, service frameworks, libraries and practices for backend teams.
• Improve efficiency, safety and reliability of agent execution by reducing latency and controlling resource access.
• Create high-quality SDKs and explore technologies to improve development experience.
• Collaborate with other Tech Teams to implement company-wide solutions for scalability and stability.

Job description

Design and build Gateway Services with high performance and reliability

Build foundational capabilities for AI agents — execution environments, tool infrastructure, memory and context services — for engineering teams to build their agents on

Build technical products including unified data access layer, service frameworks, common libraries and practices for backend teams to accelerate the tech stack evolution towards a unified backend architecture

Improve the efficiency, safety and reliability of agent execution: drive down token cost and latency, ensure isolation and controlled access to internal resources

Create high-quality software development kits, explore innovative technologies and practices to improve engineering efficiency and development experience

Collaborate with other Tech Teams to implement company-level solutions for analyzing and improving efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources and managing services sustainably
