Job summary

Merkleinnovation in Jakarta is seeking a Senior Backend Developer (Golang) for a 3–6 month project-based contract to join ASAP. You will design, scale, and maintain high-performance microservices and robust backend APIs for telco systems.

The role requires 5+ years of backend experience with Golang, strong knowledge of RESTful and gRPC, and hands-on experience with Docker/Kubernetes, SQL/NoSQL, and messaging systems like Kafka or Pulsar. On-site work in Kuningan, South Jakarta is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong backend focus.
• Fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and English (written and verbal).
• Hands-on production experience with Golang.
• Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and messaging systems (Kafka or Pulsar).

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Developer (Golang) for a high-impact, 3 to 6-month telecommunications project based in Kuningan, South Jakarta. In this role, you will design, scale, and maintain high-performance microservices and robust backend APIs, ensuring high reliability and scalability for critical telco operations.

Responsibilities

• Architecture & Development: Design and implement scalable, high-performance microservices using Golang.
• API Engineering: Develop and maintain reliable RESTful and gRPC APIs for seamless integration with web, mobile, and third-party telecom systems.
• System Optimization: Optimize code and database queries for maximum system performance, scalability, and high-availability operations.
• Data & Messaging: Work with relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases; implement message queues (Kafka, Pulsar) for real-time asynchronous processing.
• AI-Assisted Engineering: Leverage modern AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude) to accelerate development, improve code quality, and automate routine tasks.
• Quality & Mentorship: Lead code reviews, drive architectural decisions, identify edge cases/technical debt, and facilitate pair programming sessions for continuous team learning.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Frontend, DevOps, and Product management teams to drive deliverables from requirement to deployment.
• Production Support: Investigate, diagnose, and resolve production issues rapidly with minimal downtime

Requirements

• Experience: 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong backend focus.
• Communication Skills: Clear, structured communication skills with fluency in both Bahasa Indonesia and English (both written and verbal) for effective technical and cross-team discussions
• Core Tech Stack: Proven, hands-on expertise in Golang for production-grade systems.
• Database & Messaging: Solid experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and event streaming/message brokers (Kafka or Apache Pulsar).
• Infrastructure & Cloud: Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud environments.
• APIs: Strong proficiency in building and consuming RESTful and gRPC protocols.
• Work Preference: Must be willing and able to work full-time on-site (WFO) at our Kuningan, South Jakarta office.
• Soft Skills: Self-driven, highly autonomous, and able to deliver under tight timelines with minimal supervision in an enterprise setting.
