Job summary

Kulu is hiring a Lead AI Product Engineer to own the technical and product direction of our AI systems in Bali. You will lead engineers in a hands-on, player-coach role, shaping architecture, prompts, and production behavior while not shying away from writing code when needed.

You will influence how real-time AI agents interact with users, balance deterministic code and model-driven decisions, and build a high-performance team and culture on the ground in Bali.

Qualifications

• Must have exceptional software engineering fundamentals.
• Strong intuition for LLM behavior and prompt design.
• Excellent product judgment and ability to reason about complex systems.
• Experience guiding, mentoring, or leading engineers.
• Fluent/Advanced English communication.

Responsibilities

• Own the production AI product behaviour and architecture.
• Lead engineers, review PRs, and ship production changes.
• Investigate failures and drive root-cause analysis across systems.
• Define and evolve agent orchestration, deterministic logic vs model control.
• Build hands-on, contribute code when needed and guide the team.
