Pendidikan Amman Academy invites applications for a Science Teacher (Chemistry Preferred) to educate students in Years 9–12. The role emphasizes instruction in Bahasa Indonesia, strong lab practice, and alignment with Indonesian curriculum alongside IB‑influenced pedagogy.
Ideal candidates have at least five years of secondary science teaching experience with Chemistry experience, and the ability to diagnose gaps, design targeted interventions, and support learners across readiness levels.
The Science Teacher is responsible for teaching Science to students in Years 9–12, with instruction delivered primarily in Bahasa Indonesia. Candidates with a Chemistry specialism are strongly preferred. This position requires an experienced science educator who can work across differing levels of student readiness. The successful candidate will diagnose significant learning gaps, identify the scientific knowledge, practical skills, and quantitative skills students need for their pathway, and design targeted or individualized programmes that accelerate progress rather than relying solely on a fixed textbook sequence. The role requires strong experience with Indonesian secondary Science, including IPA and Kimia at upper-secondary level, and familiarity with the expectations and pedagogy of international and IB-aligned science programmes.
Design, implement, and evaluate high-quality Science learning experiences for Years 9–12, delivered primarily in Bahasa Indonesia and aligned with applicable Indonesian curriculum requirements and school-wide learning goals.
Teach and support IPA and, where assigned, Kimia (Chemistry), including atomic structure, chemical bonding, stoichiometry, reaction rates and equilibrium, thermochemistry, acids and bases, redox and electrochemistry, and organic chemistry. Teaching Fisika or Biologi at lower levels may also be assigned depending on timetable needs.
Prepare students effectively for Indonesian Science and Kimia assessments, emphasizing conceptual understanding, application, scientific reasoning, data analysis, and problem solving.
Plan and lead safe, well-organized laboratory and practical work, including risk assessment, correct handling and storage of chemicals, and teaching students experimental design, measurement, and evaluation of results.
Use diagnostic assessment to identify individual strengths, misconceptions, prerequisite gaps (including mathematical skills needed for science), and areas requiring intervention.
Design targeted and individualized learning programmes for students whose science attainment does not yet match their year level, chosen pathway, or future academic goals.
Support students transitioning between Indonesian, IB, and other international curricula by identifying differences in content sequence, terminology, conventions, practical expectations, and assessment styles.
Use inquiry, investigation, modelling, multiple representations, and real‑world contexts to develop conceptual understanding rather than memorization of facts and procedures alone.
Differentiate instruction for students requiring substantial remediation as well as students ready for advanced extension.
Provide timely, specific feedback and teach students to analyze errors, explain reasoning, evaluate evidence, and become increasingly independent learners and investigators.
Collaborate with MYP, DP, Indonesian pathway, learning support, laboratory, and counseling colleagues to ensure appropriate placement, progression, and preparation for future academic pathways.
Minimum 5 years of successful secondary Science teaching experience, with Chemistry teaching experience strongly preferred.
Experience teaching Science across Years 9–12 in Indonesian and international or internationally oriented curricula.
Demonstrated experience teaching Indonesian national Science, including Kimia at upper‑secondary level.
Proven experience preparing students for Science and Kimia assessments and improving student performance.
Experience running a school science laboratory safely, including chemical management and practical assessment.
Demonstrated success supporting students with significant learning gaps in science or transitioning between different curricula.
Experience designing intervention, acceleration, or individualized learning programmes based on diagnostic evidence.
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemistry Education, Science Education, or a closely related field.
Recognized teaching qualification or Indonesian teaching credentials appropriate to secondary Science.
Strong command of Bahasa Indonesia and ability to teach complex scientific concepts and terminology accurately and confidently in Bahasa Indonesia.
Professional working proficiency in English sufficient for collaboration, curriculum planning, professional learning, and communication in an international school environment.
Experience with IB MYP Sciences or DP Chemistry is an advantage.
