The Mathematics Teacher is responsible for teaching Mathematics to students in Years 9–12, with instruction delivered primarily in Bahasa Indonesia. This position requires an experienced mathematics educator who can work across differing levels of student readiness. The successful candidate will diagnose significant learning gaps, identify the mathematical knowledge and skills students need for their pathway, and design targeted or individualized programmes that accelerate progress rather than relying solely on a fixed textbook sequence. The role requires strong experience with Indonesian secondary Mathematics, including Matematika Tingkat Lanjut, and familiarity with the expectations and pedagogy of international and IB-aligned mathematics programmes.
Key responsibilities
- Design, implement, and evaluate high-quality Mathematics learning experiences for Years 9–12, delivered primarily in Bahasa Indonesia and aligned with applicable Indonesian curriculum requirements and school-wide learning goals.
- Teach and support Matematika and, where assigned, Matematika Tingkat Lanjut, including advanced algebra, functions, geometry, probability, trigonometry, and calculus.
- Prepare students effectively for Indonesian Mathematics and Matematika Tingkat Lanjut assessments, emphasizing conceptual understanding, application, reasoning, and problem solving.
- Use diagnostic assessment to identify individual strengths, misconceptions, prerequisite gaps, and areas requiring intervention.
- Design targeted and individualized learning programmes for students whose mathematical attainment does not yet match their year level, chosen pathway, or future academic goals.
- Support students transitioning between Indonesian, IB, and other international curricula by identifying differences in content sequence, terminology, conventions, and problem-solving expectations.
- Use inquiry, mathematical modeling, multiple representations, and authentic problem solving to develop conceptual understanding rather than procedural memorization alone.
- Differentiate instruction for students requiring substantial remediation as well as students ready for advanced extension.
- Provide timely, specific feedback and teach students to analyze errors, explain reasoning, and become increasingly independent problem solvers.
- Collaborate with MYP, DP, Indonesian pathway, learning support, and counseling colleagues to ensure appropriate placement, progression, and preparation for future academic pathways.
