Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering or a related scientific discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years' experience in research and development within the cosmetics manufacturing industry.
• Proven experience managing R&D teams and leading product development projects from inception to market launch.
• Strong knowledge of cosmetic formulation, ingredient functionality and cosmetic regulations and compliance standards.
• Demonstrated expertise in analytical testing, quality control and regulatory requirements specific to cosmetic products.
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously whilst meeting deadlines.
• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to innovate and develop solutions to technical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Research and Development team to develop innovative cosmetic formulations and products.
• Oversee the planning, execution and completion of R&D projects from concept through to finish goods.
• Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify emerging trends and opportunities for new product development.
• Ensure all R&D activities comply with cosmetic regulations, safety standards and quality requirements.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Production and Quality Control teams to ensure seamless transition of products from development to manufacturing.
• Document all R&D processes, formulations and results in comprehensive technical reports.
• Identify and evaluate new raw materials, ingredients and manufacturing techniques to enhance product performance and sustainability.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the R&D department to optimize productivity and innovation.
• Mentor and develop R&D team members, providing guidance and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
