Job summary

Asiacruit BPO, Inc. seeks an experienced R&D Manager – Personal Care Formulation to lead innovation and product development in Indonesia.

The role requires technical leadership to drive formulations from concept to commercialization across skincare, haircare and body care categories. You will guide the local R&D team, collaborate with Marketing, Manufacturing, and Procurement, ensure regulatory compliance with BPOM Indonesia, and manage scale-up to production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Technology, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetology, or related field.
• Master's degree is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead research, design, and development of innovative personal care formulations from concept through commercialization.
• Oversee full product development lifecycle including trials, stability testing, pilot production and scale-up.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the local R&D formulation team; set priorities and timelines.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Manufacturing, Procurement, QA, and QC to align strategy and execution.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with BPOM Indonesia and international cosmetic standards; maintain documentation.
• Source and evaluate raw materials; engage with Asian supplier networks; optimize cost-effective solutions.
• Drive category development across skincare, haircare, and body care products.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced R&D Manager – Personal Care Formulation to lead formulation innovation and product development for a fast‑growing personal care business based in Indonesia. This role requires a highly technical formulation expert with a proven track record of developing original formulations from concept to commercialization across skincare, haircare, and body care categories.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, drive innovation initiatives, oversee the complete product development lifecycle, and develop local R&D capabilities. Relocation support, accommodation, and work visa sponsorship will be provided.

Formulation Innovation

• Lead the research, design, and development of innovative personal care formulations from concept through commercialization.
• Create original formulations from scratch, focusing on breakthrough innovation rather than incremental improvements.
• Identify emerging market trends, new technologies, active ingredients, and consumer insights to drive product innovation.

Product Development

• Manage the full product development process, including formulation design, laboratory trials, stability testing, pilot production, and manufacturing scale‑up.
• Ensure products meet quality, performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Oversee accelerated and real‑time stability testing programs.

R&D Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop the local R&D formulation team.
• Establish R&D priorities, roadmaps, and project timelines.
• Drive a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner closely with Marketing, Manufacturing, Procurement, QA, and QC teams.
• Align product development strategies with market objectives and manufacturing capabilities.
• Support efficient transfer of formulations from laboratory development to commercial production.

Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with BPOM Indonesia regulations and applicable international cosmetic standards.
• Maintain complete and accurate formulation documentation, technical records, and development reports.
• Provide technical guidance on regulatory requirements and product safety assessments.

Raw Material Sourcing

• Evaluate new raw materials, active ingredients, and emerging technologies.
• Collaborate with suppliers and procurement teams to identify cost‑effective and innovative ingredient solutions.
• Utilize knowledge of Asian ingredient markets, particularly Chinese supply networks.

Category Development

• Drive innovation and product development across:
  • Skincare (serums, moisturizers, sunscreen)
  • Haircare (shampoos, conditioners, treatments)
  • Body care products

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Technology, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetology, or a related field.
• Master's degree is an advantage.

Experience

• Minimum 7–10 years of experience in personal care product formulation.
• Proven experience developing original formulations from concept stage to commercialization.
• Demonstrated experience leading an R&D team at a managerial level.
• Experience working across skincare, haircare, and body care product categories.

Technical Expertise

• Strong knowledge of:
  • Emulsion technology
  • Surfactant chemistry
  • Active ingredient integration
  • Stability testing methodologies
  • Laboratory-to-production scale‑up processes
• Familiarity with cosmetic regulations including NMPA/CFDA China and international cosmetic standards.
• Knowledge of BPOM Indonesia regulations is preferred.

Supply Chain Knowledge

• Strong understanding of personal care raw material sourcing and supplier networks across Asia.
• Experience working with Chinese ingredient manufacturers and suppliers is highly preferred.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively within multicultural and cross‑functional environments.
• Excellent problem‑solving, project management, and decision‑making skills.

Relocation Requirement

• Chinese nationals from Mainland China are highly preferred.
• Must be willing to relocate and reside in Indonesia.
