Job summary

KIRA is seeking a Lead Engineer to own complex products and raise the engineering bar. This hands-on leadership role involves designing systems, coding, reviewing, and driving major initiatives from conception to production.

You will move between architecture and implementation, making strong technical decisions while mentoring engineers and guiding cross-functional teams. Remote, global team, English required.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with production systems experience.
• Deep expertise in backend, frontend, APIs, databases or cloud infrastructure.
• Strong system design and architecture skills for high-scale systems.
• Willingness to stay hands-on while leading teams.
• Proven experience leading major engineering projects or technical teams.
• Able to explain complex decisions clearly across teams.
• Strong product sense connecting tech choices to business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and execution of major products and initiatives.
• Design scalable, reliable systems across backend, frontend, APIs, databases and infrastructure.
• Stay hands-on with coding, prototyping, reviews, debugging, and production support.
• Make architecture decisions and trade-offs balancing speed, scalability, and reliability.
• Break problems into clear engineering solutions and execution plans.
• Set a high bar for code quality, testing, security, observability and reliability.
• Review designs and code from other engineers with actionable feedback.
• Mentor engineers and strengthen technical capability across the team.
• Identify risks, bottlenecks and architectural weaknesses early.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, design and AI teams to ship high-quality products quickly.
• Improve tooling and automation to increase team velocity.
• Own systems beyond release: monitor production, diagnose incidents, fix root causes.
