Job summary

Datacenter People and a French architectural and engineering design consultancy seek an experienced Technical Lead to define and maintain the Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR) and project design basis. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Services, or a related technical discipline.
• Extensive experience delivering large-scale infrastructure, hyperscale data center, energy, or complex industrial projects.
• Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary design integration within phased, multi-package environments.
• Experience working with EPCM organizations, design consultants, OEMs, utilities, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams.
• Significant experience managing mission-critical or hyperscale project designs.
• Strong technical leadership, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent understanding of design governance, review processes, and technical documentation standards.
• Proven ability to support cost and schedule optimization through effective design management.
• Experience facilitating technical decision-making and executive-level project governance.
• Fluent French and professional-level English communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR) and project design basis.
• Establish the technical decision-making framework for critical disciplines and work packages.
• Validate key project assumptions, including performance, redundancy, architecture, and constructability.
• Define technical requirements for internal teams, consultants, and external advisors.
• Provide regular reporting on Technical & Design activities and performance.
• Lead the coordination and integration of all technical disciplines, including CSA, power, cooling, utilities, IT, and external works.
• Resolve interdisciplinary conflicts and drive critical technical decisions.
• Maintain a fully integrated design vision across all project milestones.
• Ensure consistency and alignment across key technical interfaces.
• Manage the technical relationship between EPCM teams and design consultants.
• Clearly define responsibilities between design production teams and owner-side leadership.
• Oversee the quality, completeness, and maturity of design deliverables.
• Lead technical reviews, comment resolution processes, and decision-making forums.
• Provide technical guidance and inputs for permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning, and commercial activities.
• Manage technical relationships with end users and key stakeholders.
• Ensure technical requirements are accurately transferred to execution teams.
• Support design release milestones and package readiness reviews.
• Ensure the design remains practical, operable, and aligned with project objectives throughout the lifecycle.
• Monitor design maturity and readiness throughout all project phases.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks affecting cost, schedule, quality, performance, and operability.
• Support technical decision-making in collaboration with Project Controls, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning teams.
• Drive initiatives to reduce design-related risks, rework, and project deviations.
