Job summary

Elabram Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced Radio Network Planning & Design Engineer to join our Medan team for full-time permanent work.

You will own RF planning, high- and low-level design, and link budgets across GSM, WCDMA, LTE, VoLTE, IoT, and 5G, leveraging Ericsson radio solutions and multi-vendor tools. You will analyze performance, support site selection and interference mitigation, mentor junior staff, and prepare client proposals.

Qualifications

In this critical wireless infrastructure role, you will be responsible for supporting network planning, design, optimization, and technical solutions for high-capacity wireless networks covering 2G, 3G, 4G LTE, VoLTE, IoT, and 5G. You will leverage your deep expertise in RF planning, link budget calculations, RF propagation, and network topology design to deliver superior coverage, capacity, and performance. Detailed Job Description:

As a Radio Network Planning & Design Engineer at Elabram, you will take full technical ownership of RF planning, high-level design (HLD), detailed design (DLD), link budget creation, and RF parameter optimization across wireless deployment projects. Your day-to-day responsibilities include performing RF planning for GSM, WCDMA, LTE, VoLTE, IoT, and 5G, analyzing network performance to identify coverage and capacity bottlenecks, and evaluating site investigation reports for optimal site selection and interference mitigation. You will collaborate with customer stakeholders to provide technical solutions, manage network trials and performance data, analyze neighbor relations and network timers, and support RFP/RFQ preparation. Furthermore, you will provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineering staff while maintaining rigorous design standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive RF planning and radio network design for GSM, WCDMA, LTE, VoLTE, IoT, and 5G wireless systems.
• Develop and review High-Level Designs (HLD), Detailed Low-Level Designs (DLD), network topologies, link budgets, CDD/CDR, and technical design documents.
• Prepare High-Level Design standards, engineering guidelines, technical recommendations, and formal client proposals.
• Analyze network performance metrics to identify coverage holes, capacity constraints, and external interference issues.
• Analyze site investigation reports to support strategic site selection, candidate evaluation, and interference analysis.
• Provide expert technical support during network implementation and resolve complex planning and design-related anomalies.
• Manage network trials, performance benchmarking datasets, neighbor relations, RF parameters, and network timers.
• Support RFP/RFQ preparation and participate in customer discussions to deliver tailored technical solutions related to RF planning and design.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 3 to 5+ years of professional experience specializing in Radio Planning and Network Design within telecommunications.
• Strong understanding of 2G, 3G, 4G LTE, and 5G wireless communication technologies and network architectures.
• Practical expertise in link budget calculations, RF propagation modeling, coverage planning, capacity sizing, and interference analysis.
• Hands-on operational familiarity with professional RF planning and optimization tools such as MapInfo, Mentum Planet, TEMS, Actix, BO, and EDOS.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Access for data analytics, parameter tracking, and report generation.
• Mandatory knowledge and working experience with VoLTE and IoT networks (5G experience is a strong advantage).
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, customer-facing communication, and technical mentoring capabilities.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Specialized technical understanding of Ericsson products and radio access network solutions.
• Prior working experience with data analytics, machine learning (ML), or artificial intelligence (AI) applications in telecom.
• Advanced post-graduate qualifications or specialized certifications in wireless network engineering.
• Proven ability to work independently and guide multi-disciplinary engineering project teams.
• Familiarity with multi-vendor network integration and core network interactions.
