Job summary

PT Alcotraindo Batam is seeking a hands-on Quality Manager to own product quality across a 20+ person team in a multi-shift operation. The role sits at the center of building out IWS/TPM led daily management systems and strengthening the quality management system end to end.

You will lead quality KPIs, drive root-cause actions and coach cross-functional teams to reduce customer complaints, while ensuring readiness for audits by brand-owners and customers.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years of tobacco industry experience is required.
• Hands-on factory floor experience is essential.
• Proven leadership of multi-shift teams of 20+ people.
• Strong root cause analysis and structured problem-solving skills.
• Fluent English; Bahasa Indonesia is a plus; willingness to relocate to Batam.

Job description

PT Alcotraindo Batam is a cigarette manufacturer producing everything from raw material intake through to finished goods, with product reaching more than ten countries worldwide. The site is investing in its Quality function and is looking for a hands-on Quality Manager to take ownership of product quality across a 20+ person team, multi-shift manufacturing operation. This role reports directly to the Senior Manager, Manufacturing Excellence & Quality, and sits at the centre of the site's next phase: building out IWS/TPM led daily management systems, strengthening the quality management system end to end and raising the bar on customer and brand-owner audit readiness.

Key responsibilities

Full ownership of product quality across Primary and Secondary manufacturing, incoming material inspection and the CI Laboratory

Manage Quality KPIs: Visual Quality, Physical Quality, Complaints, Infestation/Pest Management, Chemical & Sensory Quality and drive improvement actions

Work directly alongside manufacturing team to introduce work instructions, provide training and support at every level of manufacturing operations

Lead and develop a 20+ person, multi-shift Quality team, including shift-level QC leadership

Build a strong team through coaching, mentoring, specific training and performance evaluations

Own the site's quality management system: document control, internal audit programme, CAPA, and customer/consumer complaint and non-conforming product (NCP) resolution

Partner with Production, Engineering, Planning and Warehouse to resolve chronic quality issues and reduce customer complaints

Budget Manpower, Equipment, Spare parts, consumables optimally which directly connects to P&L

Support Product Development through trials and technical input on new products, materials and equipment as per global standards

Prepare the site for customer, brand-owner and third-party quality audits

About you

8-10+ years of experience in the tobacco industry (hard requirement)

Core production/manufacturing, in-process quality, finished goods quality, incoming material quality or supply chain quality backgrounds preferred

Hands-on factory floor experience strongly encouraged

Proven leadership of multi-shift manufacturing teams (20+ people)

Hands-on shopfloor leadership experience

Strong root cause analysis and structured problem-solving skills (Six Sigma, 8D or FMEA exposure an advantage)

Track record of driving improvement through internal audits and cross-functional stakeholder management

High adaptability to change

Fluent English required. Bahasa Indonesia is an advantage, not a requirement

Willingness to relocate to Batam, Indonesia
