Job summary

YSQ International Pte Ltd is seeking a Quality Engineer to own the technical backbone of the Quality function in Batam. You will lead the CI Laboratory, the quality management system, and supplier and material quality while reporting to the Manager, Quality within Manufacturing Excellence & Quality.

You will drive laboratory testing, audits, CAPA, and vendor performance, in a role that combines hands-on lab leadership with strategic quality system ownership across NPI and production trials.

Qualifications

• 4 to 6 years of experience in manufacturing quality.
• Experience with supplier quality management and documented audits.
• Laboratory management or supervision experience.
• Fluent Bahasa Indonesia and professional English for technical documentation.
• Based in Batam or willing to relocate within Indonesia.

Responsibilities

• Manage CI Lab: test schedule, shift coverage, sample throughput and turnaround.
• Own calibration status, method control and reagent and standard management for all laboratory equipment.
• Validate and release laboratory results and escalate out-of-spec results.
• Maintain laboratory data integrity, trending and reporting.
• Manage attendance, qualification, performance and development for the Lab Analyst team.
• Maintain the controlled document system: specs, procedures, forms and revision control.
• Plan and run internal audits and track findings to closure.
• Maintain CAPA register and drive actions to closure.
• Coordinate external, customer and brand-owner audits and responses.
• Maintain training records against controlled documents for Quality.
• Manage supplier quality performance for materials, including supplier CAPA.
• Own non-conforming material process: identification, segregation and disposition.
• Own incoming inspection standards, sampling plans and acceptance criteria.
• Lead New Material Testing: observation, testing and reporting of findings.
• Advise on NPI progress, MR, product specs and testing controls.
• Be on the production floor during trials to inspect and verify.

Job description

The site is rebuilding its Quality function from the ground up and is looking for a Quality Engineer to own the technical and systems backbone of that function: the CI Laboratory, the quality management system and supplier and material quality. This role reports to the Manager, Quality, within the Manufacturing Excellence & Quality department. It is the only position in the Quality function directly accountable for the quality management system — genuine ownership of how documentation, audits and CAPA work on the ground, not a supporting role to someone else's system.

Key responsibilities

CI Laboratory

Manage the CI Lab: test schedule, shift coverage, sample throughput and turnaround

Own calibration status, method control and reagent and standard management for all laboratory equipment

Validate and release laboratory results and **escalate** out-of-specification results

Maintain laboratory data integrity, trending and reporting

Manage attendance, qualification, performance and development for the Lab Analyst team

Quality Management System

Maintain the controlled document system: specifications, procedures, work instructions, forms and revision control

Plan and run the internal audit programme, and track findings to closure

Maintain the CAPA register and drive corrective and preventive actions to closure

Coordinate external, customer and brand-owner audits, including preparation, hosting and response

Maintain training records against controlled documents for the Quality function

Supplier and Material Quality

Manage supplier quality performance for tobacco and non-tobacco materials, including supplier corrective action

Own the non-conforming material process: identification, segregation, disposition and record

Own incoming inspection standards, sampling plans and acceptance criteria

New Product Introduction (NPI) and Material Testing

Lead New Material Testing: sample observation, result testing and analysis, and reporting of findings

rack and report New Product Introduction (NPI) progress, including material review, product specification review and NPI reporting

Quality machine acceptance tests owner for new equipment

Quality assessment plans owner for new product review and ensure trial samples and controls meet visual standards

Be present on the production floor during trial, NPI and verification days to inspect and verify directly

Engineering and Projects

Provide quality engineering input to trials, brand changes and equipment changes

Support root cause investigation on technical and repeat quality issues

Supplier side innovation and improvement actions for better supplier quality

About you

Degree in Engineering, Chemistry or a related science

4 to 6 years of experience in manufacturing quality, including hands-on quality management system work

Demonstrated experience with supplier quality management and documented quality audits recordings expertise

Laboratory management or supervision experience

Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) or new material qualification is an advantage

Fluent Bahasa Indonesia and professional working English for technical documentation and internationally connected group communications

Based in Batam or willing to relocate within Indonesia
