Job summary

Sea Labs Indonesia is seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to join a cross-country team to build payment, e-commerce, and financial services. You will design test plans, automate APIs and backend services, and ensure availability and performance at scale.

This role offers exposure to AI-enhanced QA techniques and global collaboration with engineers, product, and operations across regions. 2+ years in QA and backend/API testing is expected.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of QA, software testing, or quality assurance experience.
• Experience testing backend services, REST APIs, microservices, or distributed systems.
• Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman, Swagger, REST Assured.
• Basic to intermediate SQL skills for data validation.
• Hands-on UI and Mobile Automation using Playwright, Cypress, or WebdriverIO.
• Strong programming/scripting in Python or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Understanding of QA principles, defect lifecycle, and Agile development.
• Good communication and ability to work with international teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute test plans for payment/financial products, APIs, integrations, and financial workflows.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, end-to-end, and production validation testing.
• Test critical scenarios such as payment success, retries, timeouts, duplicate requests, reversals, refunds, and reconciliation.
• Develop and maintain automated tests for APIs and backend services.
• Identify, investigate, and track defects; work with engineers to drive issues to resolution.
• Participate in release quality assessment, incident investigation, and root-cause analysis.
• Improve test coverage, QA processes, automation frameworks, and CI/CD quality gates.
• Collaborate with local/regional teams to deliver reliable payment services across multiple markets.

As a Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer, you will work with some of the most talented minds in the world, collaborating with fellow Developers, Product Managers, User Experience Designers and Operation Engineers to design, test and safeguard availability, performance and usability of our business-critical functionalities that delight both internal business and external end-users. • Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman, Swagger, REST Assured, or similar tools.
• Basic to intermediate SQL skills for data validation and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience in UI and Mobile Automation framework such as Playwright, Cypress, or WebdriverIO.
• Strong programming/scripting skills in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Understanding of software testing principles, defect lifecycle, and Agile development practices.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work with international, cross‑functional teams.
• Willingness to learn AI, use AI to facilitate and enhance quality.
