Job summary

JD Aero Technical in Canada seeks a Production Manager to lead the daily operations of the maintenance production staff and to plan incoming and outgoing aircraft schedules. The role requires strong leadership of leads, mechanics and groomers, and serves as the main point of contact for the maintenance team.

You must communicate effectively, work well in a fast-paced environment, and be able to adapt to AOG events and cost management while coordinating with customers and manufacturers.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of aircraft maintenance experience in MRO operations.
• Knowledge of Canada Labour Code and Federal Labour Standards is beneficial.
• Strong communication and team leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the production staff and schedule aircraft.
• Monitor project efficiencies and advise on cost management.
• Negotiate with clients on estimates and final billed items.
• Plan incoming checks for parts, tooling, and manpower.
• Adapt to AOG events and unplanned maintenance activities.
• Coordinate engineering requirements with manufacturers.
• Support tooling and out-of-shop repairs for all projects.
• Work with HR on evaluations and actions as needed.
• Manage time-off requests and staff scheduling.
• Minimize financial impact during off-peak workloads.
• Direct hanger maintenance and customer relations with FBO manager.

Position Summary

Accountable to the Director of Maintenance, the Production Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the production staff, and the planning of the incoming and outgoing aircraft schedule. The Production Manager is the main point of contact for the maintenance staff, and supervises the leads, mechanics and groomers.

Role & Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations while managing and monitoring efficiencies of projects.
• Advise of company direction while evaluating cost management of projects.
• Negotiate and respond to client inquiries regarding estimates and final billed items.
• Facilitate planning of incoming checks for parts, tooling, manpower, space, etc.
• Adaptability and flexibility in amending when required the event of an AOG, or unplanned and planned overnight line maintenance.
• Facilitate engineering requirements by serving as a liaison with manufacturers.
• Support tooling and out of shop repairs for all projects
• Work with Human Resources to administer employee evaluations, disciplinary action reports and suspensions
• Evaluate time off requests while managing employee schedule
• Manage and minimize financial impact during off-peak workloads
• Provide direction on hanger maintenance and upkeep
• Provide direction on customer relations and acquisition to FBO manager

Preffered Skills, Qualifications And Education Requirements

• Three to five years of aircraft maintenance experience, with working knowledge of MRO business activities.
• Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license or equivalent required, Aircraft Endorsements are an asset.
• Three to five years in Aviation Management or related discipline or equivalent combination of education, training or experience required.

Working Hours

Working hours are mainly 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday; extra hours may be required to complete project deadlines.
