Job summary

Valmet is seeking a Purchaser / Procurement Engineer to shape sourcing. You will source, purchase, and deliver materials, working with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Sales, and Global Procurement to build supplier partnerships locally and internationally.

You will drive supplier localization, cost optimization, and procurement excellence while evaluating technical drawings and managing supplier performance for timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, Manufacturing, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years in Procurement, Purchasing, Sourcing, or Supply Chain within manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Understanding of machining, casting, forging, welding and fabrication.
• Experience in RFQ/RFP, cost analysis, contract negotiation, and procurement practices.
• Localization project experience is highly preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems (SAP, LN, Compass, Oracle).
• Strong negotiation, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in English and Bahasa Indonesia.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily purchasing activities with local and overseas suppliers to ensure material availability, quality, cost, and delivery performance.
• Partner with project, production, engineering, and operational teams to understand procurement requirements and sourcing needs.
• Lead supplier sourcing, evaluation, selection, negotiation, and performance reviews to support business objectives.
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring supplier quality, delivery schedules, and overall performance.
• Execute purchasing activities in line with specifications, plans, and procurement procedures.
• Support Global Sourcing initiatives and drive localization opportunities to reduce dependency on imported components.
• Evaluate technical drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements when sourcing components and materials.
• Coordinate logistics and transportation solutions to ensure timely material deliveries.
• Maintain accurate supplier, item, sourcing, and purchasing data in ERP systems and procurement records.
• Monitor procurement costs, analyze lead times, prepare KPI reporting, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
