Ayrton Group is seeking a Process & Asset Safety Specialist to join our client, a large utilities organisation, on an ongoing project. The role offers hybrid working with the office location closest to you.

The successful candidate will assist and support in developing the capability and effectiveness of Process and Asset Safety systems, procedures, policies, and ownership of process and asset safety performance KPIs, metrics, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree required with sector experience in water/utilities or similar industries is advantageous.
• Strong ability to develop and maintain strategic partnerships with stakeholders.
• Proven ability to problem solve and manage projects.
• Proven track record with dealing with complex issues and communicating complex information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Support the Process Safety Technical Manager across key areas including governance and strategy delivery.
• Assist in developing the National Process Safety framework and strategic plan.
• Coordinate safety performance metrics, reporting and risk management across the business.
• Assist in specialist investigations of process safety incidents and HIPOs.

Education

Engineering degree (preferably Chemical/Process/Biochemical)

The successful candidate will assist and support in developing the capability and effectiveness of Process and Asset Safety systems, procedures, policies as well as ownership of process and asset safety performance KPIs, metrics, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

• SupporttheProcessandAssetSafetyTechnicalManagerinthefollowingkeyareasorasmayberequiredfromtimetotime:
• AttendingtheProcessSafetyImplementationworkinggroup,whichhasaremittooverseethedeliveryoftheprocesssafetystrategy.AssistingtheProcessSafetyandTechnicalManagerinthechairingdutiespreparation,administrationandactionfollowupforthisworkinggroup.
• DeputisefortheProcessSafetyandTechnicalManageratAssetorProcessSafetyrelatedmeetings.
• WorkingwiththeProcessSafetyandTechnicalManagerontheongoingdevelopmentandoftheNationalProcesssafetyframeworkandassociatedStrategicPlan,andstakeholderstodeliver,operationaliseandimplementtheplan.
• SupporttheProcessSafetyandTechnicalManageronpreparingreportsforthegovernanceoftheProcessSafetyFramework,includingtheprovisionofreportsonprogressandrisk.
• Manageand/orperformtechnicalassuranceaudits,reviews,andperformancemonitoringofprocesssafetyacrossbusinessareaswithinremit
• AssistingtheProcessSafetyandTechnicalManagerinDeveloping,applying,andmaintainingsystemstopreventprocessandassetsafetyincidents.
• Providingtechnicaldirectiontomanagementonassetsafetyinlinewithlegalcomplianceandbestpractice.
• Manageandoverseetheoutputsofexternalconsultants,expertsandinspectionpersonnelasrequiredandassistingintheorganisationandprocurementoflargescaleinspectionprogrammesforProcessSafety.
• AssisttheProcessSafetyandTechnicalManagerinspecialistinvestigationofallprocesssafetyincidentsandHIPOs,communicatingtechnicalfindingstoseniorstakeholders,recommendingpreventativeactionstothebusinessandensuringprocessfortrackingitemstoclosure.
• WorkwiththeProcessSafetyandTechnicalManageronthedevelopmentofeffectiveperformancemonitoringofprocessandassetsafetycomplianceacrossthebusinessareaswithinremit.
• Oversight,integrityanddeliveryofprocessandassetsafetyperformancemetrics,KPIs,reportsandupdatesfortheLeadershipandManagementteams.
• AssisttheProcessSafetyandTechnicalManagerinsettingnationalprocesssafetydirectionworkingcloselywithBusinessstakeholderstoensuretheimplementationofourWorkSafeHomeSafeFrameworkwithresponsibilityforsafeassetsandworkplaces.
• ProvisionoftechnicalandsolutionfocusedexpertisetoBusinessstakeholderstohelpevaluatekeyprocessesandassetsafetyrisksincludingassetsafetyprogrammes.
• Provideoversightfortheprocesssafetyevaluationofproposedinnovationprojects,givingtechnicalprocesssafetyrequirementsensuringthatanypotentialhealthandsafetyimpactsonexistingassetandprocessesareidentifiedandaddressed,attendingdesignworkshopsandstudiesonbehalfoftheProcessSafetyandTechnicalManager.
• Reviewinternationalassetandprocesssafetybestpracticeandapplywhereappropriate.
• Otherdutiesasrequired.

GeneralDutiesandResponsibilities:

• Collaborationwithkeyinternalstakeholdersacrossthebusiness
• Responsibleforpromotinganddeliveringhealthandsafetycommitmentsacrossthebusinessanditssupplychain,reinforcingpositivebehavioursanddeliveringhealthandsafetyobjectivesandrequirementstothehighestindustrystandards
• ConductsdutiesandresponsibilitiesinaccordancewiththeInformationSecuritypolicies,standards,processesandcontrolstoprotecttheconfidentiality,integrityandavailabilityofthebusinessinformationanddeliveryofcriticalservices,inaccordancewiththeNISDirectiveandanyotherrelevantcybersecurityregulation
• Otherdutiesasrequired.

Key Requirements:

• Anengineeringdegree(preferablyChemical,ProcessorBiochemical)minimumof2years'industryexperience,water,utilitiesorsimilarindustrieswouldbeadvantageousaswouldanadditionalqualificationprocesssafetyoroccupationalhealthandsafety.
• Abilitytodevelopandmaintaineffectivestrategicpartnershipswithkeystakeholdersinternallyandexternally.
• Abilitytoproblemsolveandprojectmanage.
• Abilitytosetrequirements,impartadviceanddirectionunderpressure-inheventofaprocesssafetyincident/event.
