Job summary

dss+ Indonesia is seeking a senior Consultant – Process Safety Management (PSM) to drive operational risk and process safety initiatives for oil & gas and petrochemicals. You will translate hazards into actionable controls, mentor teams, and deliver measurable safety improvements on client projects.

Qualified candidates have 10+ years in PSM, strong knowledge of HAZOP/HAZID, and excellent stakeholder communication in English and Bahasa. Some travel within Indonesia and the region may be required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in Operational Risk Management, Process Safety, PSM, or Major Accident Hazard Management in oil & gas, chemicals, or petrochemicals.
• Solid understanding of risk assessment methodologies and safety management systems.
• Experience communicating with senior clients and stakeholders in English and Bahasa.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to risk management and process safety projects across oil & gas and chemicals.
• Lead client assessments, workshops, analyses, and improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement practical safety solutions.
• Evaluate risk management frameworks, PSM systems, and operating controls.
• Participate in major hazard studies, gap assessments, audits, and performance improvement programs.

Your Impact

• Analyse operational data and identify opportunities to strengthen safety and operational performance.
• Develop high-quality client deliverables, reports, and presentations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver measurable outcomes for clients.
• Build expertise across operational risk management, process safety, operational excellence, and consulting methodologies.

Who You Are

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related field from a reputable University. Masters’ Degree preferred.
• 10+ years’ of strong hands-on experience in Operational Risk Management, Process Safety, Process Safety Management (PSM), or Major Accident Hazard Management within the oil & gas, chemicals or petrochemicals industry.
• Strong operation and maintenance background.
• Experience working in upstream, midstream, downstream, LNG, fertilizer, petrochemical, or refinery operations.
• Solid understanding of operational risk assessment methodologies and risk management systems eg. HAZOP, HAZID
• Knowledge of industry standards and frameworks related to process safety and operational risk management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Internationally recognised HSE certification desirable (eg. NEBOSH, IOSH, CSP etc)
• Fluency in English and Bahasa is essential for this role
• Willingness to travel within Indonesia and across the region as required.

Preferred

• Previous management consulting experience.
• Experience supporting transformation, operational improvement, or safety performance programmes.
• Exposure to client-facing project work and workshop facilitation.
• International project experience.
