Job summary

JAC Recruitment seeks a Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Chief for a construction project in Indonesia. The role supports estimation, design review, procurement and site supervision of M&E works and coordinates with internal teams, suppliers and subcontractors to meet cost, schedule and quality goals.

Responsibilities include reviewing specifications, quotations and drawings, monitoring materials costs and supervising M&E engineers on site as required. Fluency in English is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field from a recognised university, with a minimum GPA of 3.00.
• 3+ years of experience as an M&E site engineer.
• 3+ years of experience with an M&E subcontractor.
• Strong understanding of MEP systems and ability to read M&E drawings.

• Cooperate with Estimation Division in preparing cost summaries for quotations.
• Verify customer orders and specifications.
• Inspect project locations when required.
• Prepare enquiries and request quotations from M&E subcontractors with drawings and bills of quantities.

Job description

The Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Chief role supports the estimation, design review, procurement, and site supervision of M&E works for construction projects. The position works closely with internal teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to evaluate project requirements, control costs, review technical proposals, and support the quality and timely delivery of project work.

Responsibilities

• Cooperate with the Estimation Division in preparing cost summary calculations for quotations
• Verify customer orders, including specifications and scope of work
• Inspect project locations when required
• Prepare enquiries and request quotations from M&E subcontractors, attaching basic design drawings, scopes of work, specifications, and bills of quantities when required
• Review and analyse quotations and drawings from M&E subcontractors, considering price, timeline, scope of work, and the quality of work and materials
• Receive and review systems proposed by subcontractors
• Compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
• Negotiate prices with suppliers and subcontractors
• Instruct, supervise, and review the work of M&E engineers when required
• Review project specifications
• Review design calculations
• Monitor the prices of materials and equipment
• Supervise subcontractor work at project sites when required

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from a recognised university, with a minimum GPA of 3.00
• Minimum 3 years of experience as an M&E site engineer
• Minimum 3 years of experience working for an M&E subcontractor
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems
• Strong leadership skills and a good understanding of project schedules
• Ability to read general M&E drawings covering low- and high-voltage systems and identify appropriate solutions to technical issues
• Understanding of fundamental principles and government regulations relating to M&E work
• Familiarity with construction materials and tools
• Initiative, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to work accurately within tight deadlines
• Diligent approach and ability to learn quickly
• Fluency in written and spoken English
