Job summary

PCI Private Limited in Batam, Indonesia (PT PCI Elektronik Internasional) seeks a Mechanical Engineering specialist to drive cost savings through VAVE initiatives in an EMS setting. You will analyze designs, materials, and processes to identify cost reductions and collaborate with Engineering, Sourcing, and suppliers to implement changes.

A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years’ EMS or manufacturing experience is required, plus strong knowledge of plastics injection moulding,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in EMS/manufacturing or MNC environment.
• Strong knowledge of plastics injection moulding, metal stamping, and precision machining.
• Experience evaluating alternative components and suppliers for cost reduction.
• Familiar with cost engineering, value engineering, and supplier networks in SEA.

Responsibilities

• Drive cost savings via VAVE initiatives.

Location: Batam, Indonesia (under PT PCI Elektronik Internasional)

Responsibilities

• Drive product cost savings through Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives.
• Analyze product designs, mechanical components, materials, manufacturing processes, and supply chains to identify cost reduction opportunities.
• Review component specifications, drawings, and performance requirements to identify and qualify alternative or substitute mechanical parts.
• Conduct teardown analysis, benchmarking, should-cost analysis, and market assessments to support cost optimization initiatives.
• Execute VAVE projects from concept through implementation, working closely with Engineering, Commodity Management, Sourcing, and suppliers.
• Collaborate with suppliers and stakeholders on prototype builds, testing, qualification, and implementation activities.
• Develop and maintain VAVE methodologies, target costing models, and project pipelines to achieve business cost reduction goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in an EMS, manufacturing, or MNC environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical commodities, including plastics injection moulding, metal stamping, and precision machining.
• Good understanding of mechanical component specifications, material properties, manufacturing processes, and engineering drawings.
• Experience evaluating and qualifying alternative mechanical components, materials, and suppliers for cost reduction and value improvement.
• Strong analytical skills with knowledge of component costing, material pricing, and market trends.
• Experience in value engineering, component engineering, commodity engineering, cost engineering, or strategic sourcing is an advantage.
• Familiarity with supplier networks in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia is preferred.
• Candidates with strong relevant experience may be considered for a Senior position.
