Job summary

Meratus Group in Surabaya seeks a Marine Superintendent to oversee vessel safety, navigation operations, and environmental protection. You will lead safety investigations, advise Masters on stability and loading, and ensure compliance with international and Indonesian regulations.

You will be based at our Head Office in Surabaya, onshore, with opportunities to train crews and drive improvements in health and safety processes while supporting agile operations across our maritime network.

Qualifications

• ANT/ATT education with minimum ANT II.
• Minimum 2 years sailing as Chief Officer.
• Minimum 1 year as Marine Superintendent.
• Willing to work on shore; based in Surabaya Head Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in accident / incident investigations.
• Analyze accidents and incidents and coordinate corrective actions with DPA and GM.
• Emergency Response Team member.
• Close NCs after accidents, investigations, damage, audits and PSC findings.
• Train and raise safety awareness on board.
• Provide navigational and operational information and support to Masters.
• Advise on stability and critical loading when needed by vessel.
• Prepare manuals and train crew on new regulations or amendments.
• Review safety committee minutes with DPA.
• Advise on LSA, FFA and MARPOL requirements.
• Do pre-inspections before chartering or third-party inspections.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Coach and assess the team to achieve high performance and competency.
• Evaluate work processes, 5S, and OHS to improve efficiency.

Position Overview:

This position will be responsible for the operational safety of the vessel in the fields of navigation, loading on board and the prevention of environmental pollution.

Responsibilities:

• To be in the team of all accident /incident /NC investigations.
• Proper analysis of accidents & incidents and discuss with DPA and GM for Corrective action & implementation.
• Emergency Response Team Member
• Effective closing of NCS raised after accidents , investigations, damage , internal audits ,external audits and PSC findings/detentions
• Training and creating awareness on safety on board.
• Providing navigational and operational information and support to Masters
• Providing advise/information on stability and critical loading when needed by vessel
• Prepare manuals , instructions and posters and train/socializing crew whenever there is a new regulations or amendments to existing regulations/standards.
• Review masters review/minutes of safety committee meetings along with DPA.
• Providing advise/information needed by vessel on LSA,FFA and Marpol
• Do the pre inspection before charter out or before inspection 3rd party.
• Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned from time to time
• Providing training, coaching, and assessing the team in accordance with established HR procedures, to achieve high performance and competency.
• Evaluating work processes, 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain), and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) to achieve effectiveness and efficiency in the department's work processes.
  

Requirements:

• Specific Education (ATT/ ANT), Minimum ANT II
• Minimum 2 years sailing as Chief Officer on board
• Minimum 1 year experience as Marine Superintendent
