Job summary

Scorpa Pranedya is seeking a highly experienced Master Mariner for helm and safety leadership on petroleum tanker operations. The role requires leadership in navigation, cargo handling, and regulatory compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, and ISM Code.

The successful candidate will oversee vetting inspections (SIRE/CDI), incident investigations, and risk management while coordinating between shore management and vessel Masters. English proficiency and strong reporting are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nautical Science or equivalent maritime qualification.
• Former Master Mariner (Captain) on oil tankers is mandatory.
• Expert-level knowledge in oil tanker operations is mandatory.
• Strong understanding of IMO regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code).
• Proven vetting inspections experience (SIRE/CDI) with track record.
• Experience in marine assurance, navigation audits, and incident investigation.
• Strong leadership and ability to guide Masters.
• Excellent English communication and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe and efficient vessel operations in line with company standards and international regulations.
• Oversee navigation practices, cargo operations, and seamanship onboard.
• Monitor vessel performance, voyage execution, and operational compliance.
• Prepare and manage audits, inspections, and vetting processes (SIRE/CDI).
• Close findings timely and drive continuous improvement.
• Supervise cargo operations including loading, discharging, and tank cleaning.
• Ensure proper handling of cargo systems, stability, and safety procedures.
• Monitor oil tanker operational requirements and best practices.
• Conduct vessel inspections, safety audits, and navigational assessments.
• Identify operational risks and implement preventive measures.
• Investigate incidents and enforce corrective actions.
• Act as the primary link between shore management and vessel Masters.
• Provide guidance to Masters and deck officers on operational and safety matters.
• Support vessels during critical operations and emergencies.
• Ensure adherence to HSE standards and promote a strong safety culture onboard.
• Minimize risk of marine incidents, collisions, groundings, and oil spills.
