Job Role
The LV Cable Technician is responsible for performing low-voltage cable termination, jointing, wiring, and basic electrical assembly activities in accordance with technical drawings, work instructions, manufacturer standards, and K3 procedures.
The role will primarily support LV cable and panel-related activities at manufacturing facilities and project sites. The technician will also assist with inspection, testing, basic troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, and daily work reporting under the direction of a Team Leader or Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform low-voltage cable termination and jointing activities for systems up to 1 kV in accordance with technical standards and work instructions.
- Install indoor and outdoor cable terminations and cable joints using termination and jointing kits from major manufacturers.
- Carry out cable preparation, crimping, insulation, sealing, and other required termination procedures.
- Perform LV cable installation and wiring based on technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and project specifications.
- Conduct basic wiring and assembly activities for low-voltage distribution panels, including LVMDP and LVSDP.
- Assist Team Leaders or Supervisors during electrical inspections, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of LV cable, wiring, and termination issues.
- Conduct basic electrical testing, including insulation resistance and continuity testing, under appropriate supervision.
- Ensure all cable termination, jointing, and wiring work meets required technical and quality standards.
- Maintain and organize tools, equipment, and electrical installation materials.
- Prepare daily work reports and document completed installation and technical activities.
- Follow all applicable K3 procedures, electrical safety requirements, and company work instructions.
- Support customer visits and project-site activities when required.
- Coordinate with internal technical teams to resolve installation and field-related issues.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum SMK in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in low-voltage cable termination and jointing.
- Practical experience performing cable termination, cable jointing, and LV electrical installation work.
- Familiarity with cable termination and jointing kits from major manufacturers is preferred.
- Good understanding of low-voltage electrical distribution systems and LV panels, including LVMDP/LVSDP.
- Able to read basic electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation layouts.
- Familiar with basic cable preparation, crimping, termination, insulation, and jointing procedures.
- Familiar with electrical testing equipment, particularly Megger/Insulation Resistance Tester and Continuity Tester.
- Basic understanding of electrical troubleshooting and fault identification.
- Able to follow technical instructions, manufacturer procedures, and quality standards accurately.
- Understanding and practical application of K3 and electrical safety procedures.
- Electrical Safety/K3 certification is an advantage.
- Basic English proficiency to understand electrical terminology, technical drawings, and work documentation.
- Physically fit and willing to work at manufacturing facilities and project sites when required.
- Willingness to travel for customer visits, installation, inspection, testing, or commissioning activities.
- Able to work effectively under the direction of a Team Leader or Supervisor.
- Detail-oriented, disciplined, safety-conscious, and responsible in carrying out technical work.
