Job summary

Haskoning is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to drive design and delivery of high‑performance electrical infrastructure for data centre developments across SE Asia. You will lead MV/LV distribution, back‑up power, UPS, protection strategies, and QA/QC while mentoring engineers and coordinating with MEP teams and clients.

You will coordinate with global teams, manage multiple work packages, and support business development with technical input.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in multidisciplinary design and project delivery.

Our Mission Critical Facilities (MCF) team is internationally recognised for delivering high-performance, resilient and sustainable data centre solutions for hyperscale, colocation and enterprise clients. As Southeast Asia continues to experience rapid digital infrastructure growth, we are strengthening our regional MCF leadership capability and are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to drive technical excellence and delivery performance across major developments in APAC. We welcome both international and local candidates.

The successful candidate will be based in either Ho Chi Minh City or Jakarta. Given the regional scope of the position, periodic travel between these locations will be required.

What you will do as a Lead Electrical Engineer

This role is for a Lead Electrical Engineer within our Mission Critical Facilities (MCF) team, responsible for leading the design and delivery of resilient electrical infrastructure systems for complex data centre developments across Southeast Asia. Acting as the electrical technical authority, you will provide leadership across all stages of design, from concept development through detailed engineering and construction support.

You will work in close collaboration with the MEP Design Manager and Project Manager, alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, to ensure the successful delivery of integrated, high-performance, and reliable electrical systems. The role requires strong technical ownership of medium and low voltage distribution systems, backup power generation, UPS systems, and protection strategies aligned with mission critical redundancy requirements. You will be responsible for design quality, technical governance, and mentoring of electrical engineers within the regional team.

This is a senior technical leadership position requiring strong mission critical expertise, sound engineering judgement and the ability to operate effectively in fast-track project environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the electrical technical authority for mission critical data centre projects across Southeast Asia, ensuring design quality, compliance, and technical excellence.
• Lead the design and coordination of medium- and low-voltage (MV/LV) electrical distribution systems, including utility interfaces, generators, UPS systems, switchgear, and power distribution infrastructure.
• Oversee power system studies including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and protection coordination using relevant modelling software (e.g., ETAP).
• Collaborate closely with the MEP Design Manager and Project Manager to ensure electrical deliverables align with overall project objectives, programme, budget, and quality standards.
• Lead and mentor electrical engineers within the regional team, providing technical guidance, design review, and capability development.
• Establish and maintain electrical design standards, best practices, and QA/QC processes within the Mission Critical Facilities team.
• Prepare and review technical specifications, reports, and tender documentation.
• Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, and technical proposals, providing recommendations to clients during procurement processes.
• Represent the company during client meetings, technical workshops, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and site testing & commissioning activities.
• Support business development activities through technical input to bids, proposals, and client presentations.
• Maintaining effective communication and relationship with our global teams (NL, GER & UK). Manage and deliver the electrical work packages in multiple projects.

Technical Competencies

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in multidisciplinary design and project delivery.
• Proven experience delivering mission critical facilities, ideally hyperscale or colocation data centres.
• Strong technical expertise in medium- and low-voltage (MV/LV) distribution systems, including utility interfaces, standby generation, UPS systems, and critical power distribution.
• Proficiency in power system studies including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and protection coordination (e.g., ETAP or similar software).
• Experience preparing technical specifications, employer’s requirements, and tender documentation for major infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineering teams, conduct technical reviews, and ensure QA/QC compliance.
• Experience supporting procurement processes, reviewing contractor submissions, and participating in FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities.
• Strong understanding of international standards applicable to electrical design and mission critical facilities.
• Experience working with international clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Uptime Institute ATD/ATS certification or similar mission critical accreditation is advantageous.
• Fluent in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
