PT Phoenix Resources International in Tarakan, Kalimantan Utara, is seeking a Laboratory Analyst to perform routine pulp testing and quality assessment. You will operate spectrophotometers, viscometers and tensile testers, record results, and support process improvements.
The role requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field, strong analytical skills, and ability to work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced production environment.
Perform routine testing and analysis of pulp samples using laboratory equipment and instruments.
Conduct physical, chemical, and mechanical tests to evaluate pulp quality, including brightness, strength, viscosity, and moisture content.
Record and interpret test results accurately, maintaining detailed records of all experiments and analyses.
Monitor process parameters and raw material inputs to identify deviations and trends that may affect pulp quality.
Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot process issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures to ensure consistent product quality.
Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration, cleanliness, and safety standards are met.
Stay updated on industry developments, technologies, and regulations related to pulp production and quality control.
Participate in cross-functional teams and projects aimed at improving process efficiency, product quality, and cost optimization.
Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while working in the laboratory environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pulp and Paper Science, or a related field.
Previous experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in the pulp and paper industry.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to accurately perform and interpret test results.
Familiarity with laboratory equipment and instruments used for pulp testing, such as spectrophotometers, viscometers, and tensile testers.
Knowledge of pulp production processes, including pulping, bleaching, and refining, is desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and data analysis software.
Strong commitment to safety practices and adherence to regulatory requirements.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
Flexibility to work shifts and weekends as needed to support production schedules and laboratory operations.
