Job summary

GECO Asia Pte. Ltd. is seeking a seasoned enterprise streaming architect to design and deliver real-time data pipelines using Apache Kafka and Confluent.

You will translate business requirements into scalable event-driven architectures and collaborate across engineering, architecture, application, and DevOps teams. The role includes optimizing Kafka environments across AWS, GCP, and Azure, ensuring performance, security, and reliability, while driving standards and best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering.
• 10+ years IT experience incl. 4 years in Kafka, event streaming, data engineering, or solution architecture.
• Strong customer-facing, analytical, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
• 5+ years hands-on Apache Kafka experience, with Open Source Kafka, Confluent, Cloudera, or AWS MSK
• Strong programming experience in Java, Python, or Scala.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architecture.
• Experience deploying and operating Kafka on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong troubleshooting and stakeholder management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver end-to-end real-time streaming solutions using Apache Kafka and Confluent technologies

• Investigate complex Kafka, streaming, and integration issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions
• Establish and contribute to Kafka architecture standards, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Communicate technical architectures, recommendations, implementation approaches, and risks to customers and stakeholders

About you

• 10+ years of total IT experience, including at least 4 years in Kafka, event streaming, data engineering, or solution architecture
• Strong customer-facing, analytical, stakeholder management, and communication skills
• 5+ years of hands-on Apache Kafka experience, with exposure to Open Source Kafka, Confluent, Cloudera, or AWS MSK
• Strong programming experience in at least one of Java, Python, or Scala
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, software engineering principles, event-driven architecture, real-time streaming, Kafka architecture, and data integration
• Experience deploying and operating Kafka on AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
