Job summary

KitaLulus is seeking a senior Java backend engineer in Jakarta to design and run Flowable-based processes and services. You will build robust micro-services, manage Kafka streams, and collaborate with AI-focused engineers to expose automated workflows.

Ideal candidates have fintech experience, production Flowable knowledge, and a strong testing culture. English communication is essential for cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Java backend engineering experience with Spring Boot / Spring Cloud.
• Production Flowable experience, including BPMN 2.0 and DMN.
• Strong Kafka expertise in production systems.
• Fintech experience with regulated financial products.
• Docker and Kubernetes in a cloud-native environment.
• Experience designing automated tests for asynchronous workflows.
• AI-first engineering mindset with precise change specifications.
• Fluent in English and availability for 11:00–19:00 WIB.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement BPMN 2.0 process models and DMN decision tables in Flowable.
• Build and maintain Java / Spring Boot micro-services integrating with Flowable Java and REST APIs.
• Design and operate Kafka-based event streaming for core leasing and asset-finance domains.
• Own service boundaries, API contracts and data models end-to-end.
• Collaborate with the AI Agent Engineer to expose AI automation as Flowable service tasks and event-driven gateways.
• Author specification-driven change proposals, and act as the named human approver for changes to orchestration processes, decision logic and core-domain integrations.
• Grow automated and end-to-end test coverage for critical process flows; test coverage is the condition that enables autonomous agent work in a module.
• Define technical standards and review code from our Southeast Asia developer partners.
• Participate in architecture decisions and communicate clearly in English with engineering peers and business stakeholders.

Your profile

• 5+ years of Java backend engineering experience with Spring Boot / Spring Cloud.
• Production Flowable experience, including BPMN 2.0 and DMN, is mandatory.
• Strong Kafka expertise in production systems is mandatory.
• Fintech experience is mandatory: production work on a regulated financial product such as leasing, lending, banking, payments or insurance, where financial decisions, customer data or regulatory requirements mattered.
• Confident with Docker and Kubernetes in a cloud-native environment.
• Experience designing and maintaining automated tests for asynchronous, stateful and integration-dependent workflows is mandatory
• AI-first engineering mindset: daily use of coding assistants and agents on production work, and the ability to write a change specification precise enough that an agent implements it correctly and a reviewer can verify that it did.
• Fluent in English, with availability to work 11:00–19:00 WIB for dependable collaboration with the European team.
