Job summary

ABS in Batam seeks an entry-level Surveyor I to support vessel and marine structure inspections under supervision. The role focuses on learning ABS rules, reporting findings, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards during construction and operation.

You will conduct routine surveys, prepare accurate inspection reports, and engage with clients to resolve issues, while developing skills in field operations, documentation, and port procedures at an evolving global

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or physical science (minimum two-year program) or marine/nautical certification.
• English proficiency commensurate with scope of certification and services.
• Appropriate certifications/licenses may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine surveys on classed vessels, platforms, or other marine structures and at manufacturers for classification and compliance with statutory requirements.
• Prepare technically accurate and timely reports of inspections and surveys performed.
• Engage in contact with clients to resolve problems within areas of expertise.
• Maintain survey files in an orderly and up-to-date manner in the area of responsibility.
• Develop the skills necessary for the administration of office procedures and monitoring of business performance at an assigned port.
• Through broader and more technically challenging work assignments, develop an understanding of field operations, policies, methods, and procedures.
