Job summary

PaxOcean is seeking an Inspector, Hull & Outfitting to ensure hull and outfitting works meet project specs, international standards, and class requirements. The role includes in-process and final inspections, coordinating with internal teams, shipowners, and third-party inspectors, and reporting non-conformities while upholding safety and environmental standards across shipbuilding and repair projects.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's in Engineering, Science, or related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant industrial experience.
• Minimum 2–3 years of inspection experience in shipbuilding or ship repair.
• Familiar with ABS Welding Inspector requirements or equivalent welding inspection certifications/standards.
• Good knowledge of applicable inspection methods, testing techniques, quality standards, and international codes relevant to shipbuilding and ship repair.
• Good command of written and spoken English, with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong planning, organizational, and execution skills with attention to detail.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams, classification societies, and clients.

Responsibilities

• Carry out, coordinate and arrange the job/activities as required by the department objective.
• Ensure the safety and quality requirements are met.
• Day to day management of the departmental activities.
• Productivity, work discipline, and housekeeping.
• Ensure work complies with International Construction Codes, project specs, tender, work instructions, procedures and manuals.
• Perform in-process and final inspections on electrical & instrumentation, piping, steel, mechanical and other jobs in shop and onboard.
• Coordinate with Classification societies, third party inspection agencies, Ship Superintendents and other trades.
• Stop processes if requirements are not met and report non-conformities with corrective actions.
• Collect, update and file inspection records.
• Conduct frequent audits and report non-compliance to superiors.
• Lead internal inspections and final survey with class and owner.
• Follow Safety Rules and Environmental Policy by the yard.

• Participation in work identification.
• Coordinate and liaise with Classification societies, third party inspection agencies, Ship Superintendents and other Trades, to ensure adherence to related Standards.
• Stop processes if they do not meet specified requirements, raise Occurrence Reports / Fields Reports recommend for corrective and preventive actions.
• Collecting, updating and filing all relevant inspections records.
• Conduct frequent audits and report any non-compliance to the Superiors on issues of Quality.
• Do internal inspections and to lead to carry out final survey and acceptance with class and owner.
• To follow the Safety Rules and Regulation set refer to Occupational Health & Safety Policy and Environmental Policy by the yard

Key Requirements
