Job summary

BAT is seeking a skilled Analytical Scientist to plan, perform, and report routine analytical testing using established methods and standards. You will develop and validate ISO 17025 methods for metals, TSNAs, and related analytics, generating high-quality data that meets QA standards and business needs.

You will collaborate with internal and third-party experts to deliver projects, and coordinate activities while contributing to lab-wide continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field with practical experience in analytical lab
• Experience operating GC-FID, HPLC, and LC-MS/MS with method development/validation
• Knowledge of ISO 17025 and GxP-regulated lab environments, including quality systems and data integrity
• Experience using LIMS and data analytics/informatics tools to manage and report data
• Ability to communicate complex scientific information to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Intermediate English proficiency and willingness to learn new capabilities

Your Role

Here's what you will be doing:

• Plan, perform, and report routine analytical testing using agreed methodologies, equipment, and laboratory standards to deliver accurate, timely, and reliable results.
• Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods, including ISO 17025 validation, for metals, carbonyls, TSNAs, and other analytical techniques supporting research and product innovation.
• Generate high-quality analytical data that meets laboratory quality standards, RDRT requirements, and business needs while supporting digital ways of working.
• Partner with cross-functional teams and internal and third-party technical experts to deliver projects, solve analytical challenges, and share scientific expertise.
• Plan and coordinate analytical activities, manage project priorities, and contribute to continuous improvement across laboratory operations.
• Maintain laboratory quality management systems, meet EH&S requirements, prepare R&S reports, publications, and presentations, and stay informed of advances in analytical science and competitor activities.

About You

The company is looking for:

• A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field, with practical experience in an analytical laboratory environment.
• Experience operating analytical instrumentation, including GC-FID, HPLC, and LC-MS/MS, with knowledge of analytical method development, validation, and data interpretation.
• Knowledge of ISO 17025 and/or GxP-regulated laboratory environments, including laboratory quality systems, governance, and data integrity standards.
• Experience using LIMS and data analytics or informatics tools to manage, analyse, and report laboratory data accurately and efficiently.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work collaboratively across teams, and communicate complex scientific information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing technical reports, scientific publications, and presentations.
• Intermediate English proficiency and a willingness to learn and develop new analytical capabilities.
