Job summary

PARK AND PARTNERS CONSULTANCY PTE. LTD. supports a global container shipping company in Papua New Guinea, seeking an Operations & Logistics Head to lead country-level operations. The role covers port, vessel, cargo, depot, inland transport and procurement with a focus on cost efficiency and service performance.

We are looking for a seasoned leader with 10–15+ years of relevant experience, strong vendor management, and proven ability to drive cross-functional initiatives with regional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Maritime, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or related discipline.
• 10–15+ years’ experience in container shipping, shipping operations or logistics.
• Strong hands-on exposure to port, vessel and cargo operations.
• Experience overseeing multiple operational functions, ideally at country, regional or senior management level.
• Strong knowledge of container flow, equipment management, inland logistics and shipping cost structures.
• Proven experience in vendor management, procurement and cost optimisation.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management and analytical capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee country-wide shipping operations and logistics activities.

• Oversee cargo handling, transshipment, vessel husbandry and regulatory compliance.
• Manage container flow, equipment availability, empty repositioning, depot and M&R activities.
• Oversee inland transportation and intermodal operations, including truck and rail movements.
• Manage suppliers, vendors and third-party agents, driving cost optimisation and service performance.
• Monitor operational KPIs and lead continuous improvement, digitalisation and process-efficiency initiatives.
• Partner closely with Commercial, regional/HQ teams and external stakeholders.

We are supporting a global container shipping company in the search for an experienced Operations & Logistics Head to lead its country-level operations in Papua New Guinea.

This is a senior leadership role with end-to-end responsibility across port and vessel operations, cargo, equipment, depot, inland transportation, procurement and logistics, with a strong focus on operational excellence, cost efficiency and service performance.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and oversee country-wide shipping operations and logistics activities.

Manage port and vessel operations, including vessel scheduling, berth planning, terminal performance and operational disruptions.

Oversee cargo handling, transshipment, vessel husbandry and regulatory compliance.

Manage container flow, equipment availability, empty repositioning, depot and M&R activities.

Oversee inland transportation and intermodal operations, including truck and rail movements.

Manage suppliers, vendors and third-party agents, driving cost optimisation and service performance.

Monitor operational KPIs and lead continuous improvement, digitalisation and process-efficiency initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in Maritime, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or related discipline.
