Job summary

Japfa is seeking a senior BSL-2 Production Leader to oversee all BSL-2 production operations, ensure biosafety compliance, and optimize processes for animal health products.

The role requires strong leadership of production scientists and technicians, adherence to GMP/GLP, and collaboration with R&D and QA to support tech transfer and product registration. Based in Indonesia, this on-site position offers growth within a global agribusiness group.

Qualifications

• DVM or related scientific field is required.
• Minimum 1 year in BSL-2 production or similar.
• Demonstrated leadership in a managerial or supervisory role.
• Experience with biosafety regulations and containment principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all BSL-2 production activities, ensuring efficient and high-quality output of animal health products.
• Develop, implement, and maintain robust biosafety protocols and procedures.
• Oversee the entire production lifecycle.
• Manage and mentor a team of production scientists and technicians, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure strict adherence to GMP and GLP throughout all production stages.
• Implement and monitor quality control measures for raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products, ensuring consistent product efficacy and safety.
• Collaborate with R&D, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Affairs teams to facilitate smooth technology transfer and product registration processes.
• Manage inventory of critical raw materials, reagents, and consumables to ensure uninterrupted production schedules.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain high-quality standards.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and implement CAPAs as needed.
• Prepare and present production reports, budgets, and forecasts to senior management.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory changes relevant to BSL-2 production and animal health.

Job Qualifications

• DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) or a related scientific field.
• Minimum of 1 year of progressive experience in BSL-2 production, preferably within the animal health or biopharmaceutical industry.
• Demonstrated leadership experience with at least 1 year in a managerial or supervisory role, leading production teams.
• Extensive knowledge and practical experience with BSL-2 facility operations, biosafety regulations, and containment principles.
• Proven expertise in aseptic techniques, cell culture, viral propagation, and downstream processing.
• Strong understanding of GMP and GLP regulations.
• Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and team-building abilities.
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
