Job summary

FAO Indonesia seeks a GIS/Remote Sensing and MRV Specialist to support forest monitoring systems and MRV activities under the MERANTI project. The role involves managing geospatial data, conducting spatial analyses, and ensuring interoperability across NFMS/NFI 2.0 with national and international consultants.

The position focuses on integrating field and remote sensing data, processing satellite imagery, and delivering QA’d GIS outputs for decision-making.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geodesy, Geomatics, Forestry, Environmental Science or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in GIS, remote sensing, spatial data management and/or forest monitoring.
Working knowledge of English and Bahasa Indonesia.
National of Indonesia

Responsibilities

GIS and Spatial Data Management: maintain GIS databases, spatial datasets, geodatabases and layers for NFMS, NFI 2.0, MERANTI and FAO activities.
NFI 2.0 Implementation and Spatial Analysis: provide GIS support for NFI 2.0 implementation, including plot management and mapping.
Remote Sensing and Forest Monitoring: process satellite imagery for forest monitoring, biomass and MRV.
Data Integration and Interoperability: integrate field data with GIS, imagery, LiDAR and other datasets.
Technical Outputs, QA and Tools: produce maps and analyses, document workflows, use SEPAL and GEE.
Technical Assistance and Coordination: assist national consultants and govt counterparts on GIS/RS
