FAO seeks a GIS/Remote Sensing Specialist to support forest monitoring in Indonesia. The role focuses on managing geospatial data, processing satellite imagery, and enabling interoperability across NFMS/NFI 2.0 and SIMONTANA.

You will collaborate with national consultants and government counterparts to ensure data quality and effective MRV implementation. Based in Indonesia, the position emphasizes continuous technical support and capacity building within the MERANTI project portfolio,

Formación

Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geodesy, Geomatics, Forestry, Environmental Science or related field.
Minimum 5 years of relevant GIS/RS experience.
Working knowledge of English and Bahasa Indonesia (written and spoken).
Indonesian nationality.

Responsabilidades

Manage and maintain GIS databases, spatial datasets and thematic layers.
Provide GIS support for NFMS and NFI 2.0 implementation; support plot management and sampling.
Process satellite imagery and remotely sensed data for forest monitoring and MRV.
Integrate field data with GIS and satellite data; support interoperability between NFMS, SIMONTANA and other datasets.
Produce maps and GIS outputs; document workflows; use SEPAL and GEE for analysis.
Provide technical assistance and coordinate inputs with project teams and government counterparts.
