Job summary

Givaudan in Jakarta, Indonesia, seeks a Flavour Portfolio Specialist to build and manage the local flavour collection, guided by market needs and business strategy. You will support internal promotions, customer projects, and cross-functional teams across technical, commercial, and marketing functions.

You will lead sensory evaluation and portfolio development, ensuring alignment with growth objectives while maintaining lab EHS standards. Fluent in English and Indonesian is required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or related field with flavour experience.
• Experience: Bachelor 5+ years; Master 3+ years; Ph.D. 1+ years.
• Strong sensory evaluation, tasting, and flavour selection skills.
• Experience in savoury portfolio within flavours or food ingredients.
• Ability to translate market trends into commercially relevant flavour collections.
• Understanding of cost-in-use and margins.
• Excellent communication and project management across technical, commercial, and customer teams.
• Proficiency in MS Office; MS Project/Access advantageous.
• Sensory screening certification is a plus.
• Fluent in English and Indonesian.

Responsibilities

Flavour Portfolio Specialist - Your future position?

As the Flavour Portfolio Specialist, you will build and manage the local flavour collection by selecting the best flavours using technical, sensory, and commercial insights, aligned with local business strategy. You will also support the promotion of collections internally and help select flavours for commercial briefs.

You will be based in Jakarta, Indonesia and will report directly to the Technical Head.

Building

• Build and maintain the local flavour collection in line with country and sub-region commercial strategy.
• Ensure collections reflect market needs through sensory evaluation and market mapping techniques.
• Lead flavour evaluations in food applications for existing portfolio flavours.
• Maintain a complete and competitive portfolio by identifying gaps and low-performing flavours.
• Update systems with relevant technical and commercial information.
• Support revenue and growth objectives for FC&A and the Portfolio team.
• Maintain flavour performance data through finished product evaluations and profile documentation.
• For smaller sites, maintain adequate stock levels of collection flavour samples.

Promotion

• Promote flavour collections internally across technical and commercial teams.
• Regularly communicate collection updates and organize tastings when relevant.
• Act as a local technical expert for marketing, sales, flavour creation, and customers.
• Support external product and portfolio promotions.

Selection & Submission

• Select flavours for reactive customer briefs and project opportunities.
• Participate in project assessments and support flavour selection using the full portfolio.
• Promote the use of collection flavours across teams.
• Contribute to the technical elements of project value propositions.

EHS

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized lab environment in line with EHS policies and guidelines.
• Support and encourage compliance with EHS standards across the team.

Your Professional Profile Includes

• Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or a related field, with relevant experience in flavour applications, evaluation, or portfolio management.
• Years of Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree: 5 or more years of experience
  • Masters Degree: 3 or more years of experience
  • Ph.D. : 1 or more years of experience
• Strong sensory evaluation, tasting, and flavour selection skills, with understanding of flavour interactions in food applications and manufacturing processes.
• Experience working in savoury portfolio within flavours, food ingredients or food-related industries.
• Good expertise in translating market trends and consumer insights into commercially relevant flavour collections.
• Good understanding of commercial considerations such as cost-in-use and margins.
• Effective communication and project management skills, with confidence working across technical, commercial, and customer teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools; knowledge of MS Project or MS Access is advantageous.
• Evaluator or sensory screening certification is good-to-have.
• Fluent in English & local Indonesian language.
