FORTRESS MINING SDN BHD is seeking an experienced Geologist to execute and coordinate field exploration activities for a Timor-Leste mineral project. You will lead geological mapping, sampling, drilling, core logging and data interpretation while supervising field crews and contributing to project planning.

The role emphasizes rigorous field oversight, technical reporting and compliance with HSE protocols, with proficiency in ArcGIS and related exploration software valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geoscience or related field.
• 5-10 years of mineral exploration experience.
• Experience in regional and detailed geological mapping, including Anaconda mapping.
• Ability to manage field exploration activities and supervise field crews.
• Strong reporting and communication skills.
• Proficiency in ArcGIS, Micromine, Leapfrog Geo, Oasis Montaj and ioGAS is an advantage.

Job description

Execute and coordinate field exploration activities for the Timor-Leste mineral exploration project. The role supports systematic geological mapping, sampling, drilling, core logging, interpretation and exploration data management, while supervising field crews and contributing to project planning and technical reporting.

Key responsibilities

Plan and carry out regional and detailed geological mapping, including use of the Anaconda mapping method where applicable.

Conduct and supervise geochemical sampling programs and ensure appropriate sample collection, documentation and field quality control.

Supervise drilling activities and complete geological and geotechnical core logging as required by the exploration program.

Interpret geological, geochemical and drilling information to identify mineralisation controls and exploration targets.

Coordinate day-to-day field exploration activities and supervise field crews and contractors.

Maintain accurate geological records, databases, maps, sections and field documentation.

Prepare technical reports, progress updates and exploration recommendations for senior project personnel.

Support project planning, logistics and execution in remote exploration areas.

Follow company HSE requirements and promote safe field practices.

About you

Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geoscience or a related field.

5-10 years of relevant mineral exploration experience.

Good experience in regional and detailed geological mapping, including the Anaconda mapping method, geochemical sampling, drilling, core logging and geological interpretation.

Ability to manage field exploration activities and supervise field crews.

Good technical reporting and communication skills.

Proficiency in relevant geological and exploration software is an advantage, including ArcGIS, Micromine, Leapfrog Geo, Oasis Montaj and ioGAS.

Ability to manage, validate and interpret geological, geochemical and exploration datasets.

Strong field orientation and commitment to safe work practices.

Good analytical, problem-solving and geological interpretation skills.
