Job summary

PT Elnusa Tbk is seeking an Environmental Drilling Specialist to lead environmental and drilling waste management for offshore and onshore campaigns. You will prepare equipment, ensure partner readiness, and support drilling operations with a focus on environmental performance.

The role requires 8–9 years in upstream oil and gas drilling, strong knowledge of drilling waste systems, regulatory compliance, and proficiency in English. Master’s degree is a plus, with ISO 14001:2015 familiarity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Environmental/Petroleum/Chemical) or related field.
• Master’s degree in Environmental/Petroleum Engineering would be advantageous.
• 8–9 years in offshore/onshore drilling operations within Upstream Oil & Gas.
• Knowledge of drilling waste systems, muds, pit design and treatment processes.
• Certified Internal Auditor ISO 14001:2015.
• Familiar with regulatory standards (MARPOL, ANNEX, NORM, IMO).
• Proficient in English (written and spoken).
• Experience with permitting processes (UKL/UPL, AMDAL, PERTEK).

Responsibilities

• Lead Environmental and DWM processes for development and exploration campaigns.
• Develop and ensure KPIs for Drilling Waste Management including reducing NPT.
• Provide rig-site and shore-based technical support for DWM operations.
• Coordinate with planning to execution in permitting processes to minimize disruptions.
• Ensure data accuracy and traceability for Environmental Drilling activities.
• Prepare DWM cost estimates and related budgets.
• Assist in preparing AFE’s and supplements related to DWM aspects.
• Advise on sampling, monitoring and key parameters (TPH/PAH, TCLP, THM, Oil Content).
• Create due diligence and environmental reports; support tendering and procurement with cost-effective materials.

Job description

Responsible for providing Environmental Drilling Technical Expertise to ensure compliance with Environmental and Drilling Management system by implementing application of innovative fit for purpose and Engineered Program.

Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:

• To lead the Environmental and DWM process of development and exploration campaign (offshore and onshore) and prepare equipments, make sure Business Partners readiness and assisting on preparing Drilling Operations
• Develop and assure achievement of key Performance indicators for Drilling Waste Management activities, including avoid Non-Productive Time (NPT)
• Provide Rig-site and shore base Technical Support for all critical and/or unusual Drilling Waste Management Operations
• Maintain coordination with all related Stakeholders from planning to execution phase of permitting process (UKL/UPL, AMDAL, PERTEK) to minimize disruptions
• Assure all data related with Environmental Drilling activities are accurate, up to date and traceable
• Prepare DWM Cost estimates and work (including Drilling Waste Management Program related to concept screening, planning, design and budgetary)
• Assist Drilling Engineers to preparing AFE’s and AFE supplements by Environment or Drilling Waste Management (DWM) aspects
• Advice on sampling mud, drilled cuttings, environmental monitoring, and several important parameters (TPH/PAH, TCLP, THM, LC/LD50, Oil Content, Suspended Particulate Phase/SPP)
• Create due diligence, and environmental reports; and
• Create Scope of Work, Remuneration Table, and Owner Estimate of Drilling Waste Management Equipment & Services. Provides technical support to the Tendering and Procurement process to ensure that cost effective and adequate materials and services are utilized in the operations whilst all applicable procurement regulations are met.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Environmental/Petroleum/Chemical Engineering;
• Master’s degree in Environmental/Petroleum Engineering would be advantage;
• 8 -9 years of experience with exposure to Offshore/Swamp/Onshore Drilling Operations within Upstream Oil and Gas industry;
• In-depth engineering of Engineering (such as: solid control and drilling waste system, water-based and synthetic-based mud, pit design, mechanical and chemical treatment process, laboratory);
• Certified Internal Auditor ISO 14001:2015;
• Possess good knowledge of MARPOL, ANNEX, NORM, IMO;
• Strong in research and development (RnD);
• Strong knowledge in Operations of Drilling Engineering/Operations;
• Strong in permitting process (UKL/UPL, AMDAL, PERTEK), especially for technical aspect for exploration and development drilling;
• Fluent in English (written and spoken);
• Familiar with PTK SKK Migas 040, 005 and 007;
• Familiar with BOCP and OSCP in Compliance with Industry Standards and Regulations;
• Familiar with Indonesian MoE’s Regulation, International Standard;
• Familiar with Drilling Life Cycle Assessment Data Collection;
• Familiar with SIMOPs (Simultaneous Operations) in drilling operations;
• Familiar with ERA/HIRARC/HAZOP/HAZID in drilling environment;
• Familiar with Energy Management & Carbon Footprint Reduction Strategy; and
• Ability to adapt proactively to changing business workloads.
