About the role

Globe National School is seeking a dedicated and passionate English Teacher to join our secondary education team. This is a full-time position based in Batam, Riau Islands, where you will have the opportunity to shape young minds and foster a love of the English language in students from diverse backgrounds. As an English Teacher, you will play a crucial role in developing our students' communication skills, critical thinking abilities, and cultural awareness through engaging and innovative teaching methods. This position is fundamental to our commitment to delivering high-quality education and preparing students for academic success and global citizenship.

What you'll be doing

• Planning and delivering engaging English lessons that align with the school curriculum and educational standards
• Assessing student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support learning
• Creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation and academic excellence
• Developing students' proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening skills
• Incorporating literature, composition and language analysis into lessons to enhance critical thinking abilities
• Preparing students for relevant examinations and assessments through targeted revision and support
• Maintaining detailed records of student attendance, progress and behaviour
• Collaborating with colleagues to coordinate curricula, share best practices and support whole-school initiatives
• Communicating regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and areas for improvement
• Participating in extracurricular activities and school events to foster community engagement
• Continuing professional development to stay current with teaching methodologies and educational trends

What we're looking for

• A bachelor's degree in English, Education or a related field
• Teaching qualification or certification relevant to secondary education (such as a PGCE, teaching diploma or equivalent)
• Proven experience teaching English at secondary level, preferably in an international school environment
• Strong command of the English language with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of contemporary English teaching methodologies and ability to employ varied pedagogical approaches
• Experience with curriculum planning and assessment strategies aligned to educational frameworks
• Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to create an engaging and respectful learning environment
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively within a school community
• Ability to adapt teaching to meet the diverse needs of learners, including those with different learning styles and abilities
• Proficiency in using educational technology and digital resources to enhance learning
• A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in education
