Qualifications

• Min. 8 years of software engineering experience designing and operating production systems at scale.
• Min. 2 years of experience managing software engineers.
• Hands-on experience with LLM and generative AI solutions, including prompting, retrieval-augmented generation and monitoring.
• Understanding AI system risks including hallucinations, data privacy, security, reliability, latency and cost.
• Foundation in backend engineering, distributed systems, APIs, databases and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience delivering complex projects involving multiple teams.
• Experience coaching engineers, managing performance and supporting career development.
• Ability to articulate tech and AI trade-offs clearly in written and spoken form.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of software engineers, setting clear expectations and growth plans.
• Partner with Product, Data Science, Analytics and Operations to define priorities and roadmaps.
• Own planning and delivery of the team's engineering roadmap, manage dependencies and risks.
• Work with senior engineers to establish sound technical direction and make architecture trade-offs.
• Improve reliability, scalability, security, observability and cost efficiency of the systems.
• Establish engineering practices covering reviews, testing, deployment and incident response.
• Create an inclusive environment with clear ownership and psychological safety.
• Attract, assess and retain strong engineering talent and contribute to hiring.
• Communicate progress, risks and decisions to technical and non-technical teams.
