Job summary

DayOne is seeking a Construction Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to develop and oversee robust EHS programs across construction activities. You will ensure full regulatory compliance and lead risk-based mitigation for high-risk operations such as lifting, work at height, electrical works, and energy isolation.

You will steer audits, training, incident investigations, and cross-functional collaboration with contractors and regulators to deliver a safe, compliant project

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in OSH, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years in an EHS role, preferably in construction, industrial, infrastructure, or data center projects.
  • Experience in high-risk activities: lifting, working at height, electrical works, hot work, LOTO.
  • Valid AK3U certification or equivalent.
  • Valid LOTO and energy isolation competency.
  • Strong English language proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the EHS management system for construction activities.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international EHS regulations and standards (OSHA, EPA, Kemnaker, NEA).
  • Conduct risk assessments and maintain a project risk register with mitigation measures.
  • Lead internal EHS audits, site inspections, and regulatory inspections; guide high-risk activities.
  • Deliver EHS training, inductions, toolbox talks, and communications across teams.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses; implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and external authorities on EHS matters.

Job Summary:

The Construction Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing EHS management systems, policies, and technical standards to ensure full compliance with applicable safety, health, and environmental regulations throughout construction activities. This role requires strong leadership and extensive technical expertise to proactively identify hazards, assess risks, and implement effective control measures across high-risk activities such as lifting operations, working at height, electrical works, and energy isolation, to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Technical Program Management: Develop, implement, and maintain the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Management System in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, company standards, and client requirements. Ensure all construction activities are executed in accordance with EHS requirements and industry best practices.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable local and international EHS regulations and standards, including U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Indonesia Ministry of Manpower (MOM), and National Environment Agency (NEA). Ensure all project policies, procedures, and practices are aligned with these regulatory requirements.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct comprehensive project risk assessments and maintain a project risk register to identify, evaluate, and control potential safety, health, and environmental risks. Develop and implement effective mitigation measures to eliminate or reduce identified risks and enhance overall project safety and quality.
  • Audit and Inspection Leadership: Plan, lead, and participate in internal EHS audits, site inspections, and regulatory inspections. Analyze audit findings and ensure timely implementation and closure of corrective and preventive actions. Provide technical EHS leadership and guidance for high-risk construction activities, including lifting operations, working at height, electrical works, hot work, and energy isolation (LOTO).
  • Training and Communication: Develop and deliver EHS induction programs, toolbox talks, and specialized training for employees, contractors, and management. Act as a technical subject matter expert and effectively communicate EHS expectations, requirements, and performance across the project.
  • Incident Management: Lead and manage investigations of incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate and collaborate with project teams, contractors, and relevant external authorities on all EHS-related matters to ensure alignment, compliance, and effective implementation of EHS programs.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline. An engineering background is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) role, preferably within construction, industrial, infrastructure, oil and gas, or data center projects.
  • Strong hands-on experience in managing EHS requirements for high-risk activities, including lifting operations, working at height, electrical works, hot work, confined space entry, and energy isolation (LOTO).
  • Mandatory valid AK3U (Ahli K3 Umum) certification or equivalent EHS professional certification recognized under applicable Indonesian regulations.
  • Mandatory valid Lifting Safety certification/competency, relevant to lifting operations and lifting equipment safety.
  • Mandatory valid Electrical Safety certification/competency, relevant to electrical work and electrical safety management.
  • Mandatory valid Confined Space Entry certification/competency, including relevant confined space safety and rescue requirements.
  • Additional professional certifications such as IOSH, NEBOSH, CSP, Fire Safety, LOTO, First Aid, or other relevant EHS certifications are considered an advantage.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of applicable local and international EHS laws, regulations, and standards, including relevant requirements from OSHA, EPA, Indonesia Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker), and other applicable regulatory authorities.
  • Proven ability to identify hazards, conduct comprehensive risk assessments, maintain risk registers, and implement effective risk control and mitigation measures.
  • Strong experience in EHS management for high-risk construction activities, including lifting operations, work at height, electrical works, hot work, confined space, and LOTO/energy isolation.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively engage with employees, contractors, project teams, management, clients, and regulatory authorities.
  • Strong proficiency in written and spoken English is required.
