Job summary

DayOne is seeking an experienced Senior EHS Specialist to oversee environmental, health, and safety compliance during the transition from construction to operations at our data center.

You will lead risk assessments, implement controls, and drive training and incident investigations across site teams, coordinating with contractors and authorities to ensure world-class safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in an EHS role, preferably within construction, industrial, infrastructure, or data center projects.
  • Mandatory AK3U (Ahli K3 Umum) certification.
  • Mandatory Lifting Operations certification (e.g., Lifting & Rigging / Rigger / Signalman).
  • Mandatory Electrical Safety certification or competency relevant to electrical work and safety management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the EHS Management System in compliance with laws, regulations, and company standards.
  • Ensure construction activities comply with EHS requirements, client specifications, and industry best practices.
  • Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement effective control measures to minimize risks.
  • Review, approve, and monitor Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Permit to Work (PTW).
  • Provide technical EHS guidance for high-risk activities (lifting, heights, electrical works, hot work, LOTO).
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and EHS site walks to monitor compliance and safe practices.
  • Lead incident, near-miss, and unsafe condition investigations with root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Deliver safety training to employees and contractors; promote a positive safety culture.
  • Monitor EHS performance indicators, prepare reports, and ensure timely closure of findings.

Job Summary

The Senior EHS Specialist is responsible for closely monitoring, implementing, and maintaining Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance during the critical transition phase from construction to operations. This role ensures that all EHS systems, processes, and controls remain compliant, effective, and ready for operational use at the Day One data center.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Management System in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company standards.
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with EHS requirements, client specifications, and industry best practices.
  • Identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement effective control measures to minimize safety and environmental risks.
  • Review, approve, and monitor Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Permit to Work (PTW).
  • Provide technical EHS guidance for high-risk activities, including lifting operations, working at height, electrical works, hot work, and energy isolation (LOTO).
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and EHS site walks to monitor compliance and safe work practices.
  • Lead incident, near-miss, and unsafe condition investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Deliver safety training to employees and contractors.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through active engagement, communication, and leadership.
  • Monitor EHS performance indicators, prepare reports, and ensure timely closure of findings and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and external authorities on EHS-related matters.
  • Ensure proper environmental management, including waste handling, chemical management, spill prevention, and pollution control.
  • Support emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response activities.
Required Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • An engineering background is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) role, preferably within construction, industrial, infrastructure, or data center projects.
  • Strong hands-on experience managing EHS requirements for high-risk activities, including lifting operations, working at height, electrical works, hot work, and energy isolation (LOTO).
  • Mandatory certification as an EHS professional, including a valid AK3U (Ahli K3 Umum) certification.
  • Mandatory valid certification/competency in Lifting Operations (e.g., Lifting & Rigging / Rigger / Signalman certification, as applicable to the role).
  • Mandatory valid Electrical Safety certification or competency relevant to electrical work and electrical safety management.
  • Additional certifications such as IOSH, NEBOSH, CSP, Fire Safety, or equivalent are considered an advantage.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable EHS laws, regulations, and standards, including local regulations and international standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
  • Proven ability to identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement effective risk control measures.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees, contractors, and management.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English is required.
