Job summary

AME Group is seeking a capable DevOps Engineer to own the delivery and runtime platform, supporting engineering, data, and ML teams across on‑premises and cloud infrastructure. You will shape the platform from inception, ensuring consistent releases and scalable, observable environments.

As the first dedicated DevOps role, you will build CI/CD pipelines end-to-end, manage IaC, containerization, and monitoring, with a focus on Azure-based tooling and cross-location collaboration.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a DevOps, Platform or Site Reliability Engineering role.

Responsibilities

• Own the CI/CD pipelines: automated build, test and deployment across development, UAT and production
• Deploy to both on-premises infrastructure and cloud, keeping one release process across both
• Keep environments consistent, so a change that works in UAT behaves the same in production
• Execute releases against a documented checklist with a tested rollback path
• Define infrastructure as code, so environments are reproducible and reviewable
• Design and run the container platform: image build, registry, orchestration and zero-downtime deployment
• Build for horizontal scale: auto-scaling policies, load balancing and health checks
• Establish observability across distributed services: metrics, structured logs and tracing
• Support the data and machine learning platform, including workflow orchestration and the compute the Data and AI teams depend on
• Own secrets management and add secret scanning to the pipeline
• Build the monitoring and alerting layer, so production problems surface before someone reports them
• Work with the Data Architect on database migrations, so schema changes flow through the same reviewed pipeline as application code

About the role

As our first dedicated DevOps Engineer, you will own the delivery and runtime platform that makes it possible. The role supports every engineering team, application development, data engineering and machine learning, across a mixed estate of on-premises and cloud infrastructure. You will shape how the platform is built from the beginning rather than inheriting someone else's decisions.

Requirements

Minimum 3 years' experience in a DevOps, Platform or Site Reliability Engineering role

Proven experience building and automating CI/CD pipelines end to end

Experience deploying to on-premises infrastructure, including IIS and Windows Server

Experience with cloud infrastructure, particularly Microsoft Azure

Able to work independently: this is the first dedicated DevOps role in the team

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field

Azure, AWS or Kubernetes certification is an advantage, not a requirement

Skills and Experience

Required

CI/CD tooling: Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or similar

Infrastructure as code, ideally Terraform

Containerization with Docker: building images, and understanding what makes them small, secure and reproducible

Monitoring and observability: Grafana, with something on the metrics or log side such as Prometheus, Loki or Application Insights

Windows Server, IIS and SQL Server administration

Scripting: PowerShell, Bash or Python

Clear written English for working with engineers across locations

Advantageous

Kubernetes or equivalent orchestration in production, including scaling, rolling deployments and resource management

Workflow orchestration for data pipelines, such as Apache Airflow

Distributed tracing, service mesh or API gateway experience

Having built a platform that grew from a handful of services to many
