Job summary

PT Pelayaran Nasional Santan Prima Bahari is seeking a Crewing Officer to manage manning requirements, verify seafarer credentials and maintain robust relationships with crewing agencies. You will oversee travel documents, visas and joining procedures, while ensuring compliance with maritime regulations and safety standards.

The role requires strong communication, independence, and the ability to work in a fast-paced maritime environment. Prior crewing or port operations experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as a crewing officer or similar role in Port Operations, Marine or Offshore Support Tug industries.
• Knowledge of maritime legislation including STCW 2010 (Manila amendments), MLC, SOLAS and Flag State regulations.
• Strong networks with manning agencies, flag state administrations and seafarers.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills; able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with Manning regulations and changes; establish manning requirements through a manpower plan.
• Verify seafarer certifications and qualifications; manage crews and contracts.
• Liaise with crewing agencies; coordinate travel, visas and joining documents.
• Handle pre-employment checks and ensure readiness for deployment.

Job description

Keeping abreast of all statutory manning regulations and any relevant changes;

Establishing manning requirements through a solid manpower plan;

Verification of seafarer certification and qualifications;

Screening and initial evaluation of candidates;

Establishing and maintaining relationships with crewing agencies;

Constant communication and interaction with crews;

Managing crew changes for allocated vessels;

Compilation and management of sea staff contracts;

Travel, Visa and relevant joining documentation management.

Requirement:

Willing to be placed in Pekanbaru

Experience as a crewing officer or similar role all in the Port Operations, Marine and/or Offshore Support Tug industry;

Extensive knowledge of the relevant Maritime legislation including STCW 2010 (Manila amendments), MLC, SOLAS and Flag State Authority regulations;

Well-established network of industry contacts including manning agencies, flag state administration staff and seafarers;

Strong communication skills and can talk to vessel crews with confidence and from a position of knowledge;

You have the ability to get people on board, and drive change as well as the ability to create structure for others and put things in writing that give others clarity and direction;

Strong knowledge of safety practices is essential;

A seafaring qualification would be an added advantage;

Meticulous, pro-active with positive attitude and willing to learn;

Good interpersonal skills and able to work well with others in a fast-paced working environment;

Able to work independently and as a team;

Good to Expert user of Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint;

Having experiences in social media engagement will be an advantage.
