TERA Data Centers seeks a motivated Chief Engineer (Mechanical/Electrical) to support operation and maintenance of mission-critical infrastructure across our Indonesian campuses. You will execute maintenance, monitor equipment performance, respond to events, and sustain 24×7 facility operations in a fast-paced environment.

You will work with Field Engineers and Facility Operations Managers to ensure availability, reliability, and efficiency of our next-generation digital infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics engineering or related tech discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years operating or maintaining mission-critical facilities (data centers, power plants, etc.).
  • Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with CMMS or computerized maintenance systems.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts in a 24×7 environment.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and permit-to-work systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and operational rounds of critical electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities according to schedules.
  • Monitor facility infrastructure via BMS, EPMS, DCIM and field inspections.
  • Respond to alarms with first-level troubleshooting and fault isolation.
  • Support planned maintenance, switchings, and system restoration.
  • Test standby generators, UPS, cooling equipment and fire protection systems.
  • Record maintenance work and status in CMMS, ensuring traceability.
  • Assist with commissioning and IST for new equipment and facilities.
  • Coordinate field activities with vendors and contractors to ensure safe work.
  • Maintain tools, spare parts, and work areas in a safe, organized condition.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS, PTW, LOTO and internal procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement for reliability and energy performance.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Chief Engineer (Mechanical/Electrical) to support the operation and maintenance of mission-critical infrastructure within our hyperscale data center campuses in Indonesia. This position is ideal for an engineering professional who enjoys working in the field, solving technical problems, and ensuring the reliable operation of electrical and mechanical systems. You will be responsible for executing maintenance activities, monitoring equipment performance, responding to operational events, and supporting continuous facility operations in a 24×7 mission-critical environment. Working closely with the Field Engineer, Technical Service Manager and Facility Operations Engineer /managers, you will help maintain the availability, reliability, and efficiency of TERA's next-generation digital infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Facility Operation Manager, the Chief Engineer is responsible for the safe operation, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical facility infrastructure.

  • Perform routine inspections and operational rounds of critical electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with maintenance schedules and manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Monitor the operating condition of facility infrastructure through BMS, EPMS, DCIM, and field inspections.
  • Respond to equipment alarms and operational incidents, performing first-level troubleshooting and fault isolation.
  • Support planned maintenance activities, equipment shutdowns, switching operations, and system restoration.
  • Conduct operational testing of standby generators, UPS systems, cooling equipment, fire protection systems, and associated infrastructure.
  • Record maintenance activities, equipment status, operational readings, and work completion in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Assist with commissioning, Integrated System Testing (IST), and operational readiness activities for new equipment and facilities.
  • Coordinate field activities with vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Maintain engineering tools, spare parts, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Permit-to-Work (PTW), Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), and company operational procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and energy performance.
Operational Responsibilities

The Chief Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliable day-to-day operation of the assigned facility through disciplined execution and proactive maintenance.

  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and verify critical operating parameters.
  • Identify equipment abnormalities and initiate corrective actions before failures occur.
  • Assist in emergency response activities during utility interruptions, equipment failures, or facility incidents.
  • Verify maintenance quality and ensure completed work meets company standards.
  • Support spare parts inventory management and maintain accurate maintenance documentation.
  • Participate in emergency drills, technical training, and competency development programs.
  • Provide technical support during customer activities and infrastructure modifications.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO standards, customer requirements, and internal operational procedures.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, operational discipline, teamwork, and continuous learning.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience operating or maintaining mission-critical facilities, including:

  • Good understanding of industrial safety practices and permit-to-work systems.
Preferred Qualifications
