Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Early Childhood Education, Education, Educational Leadership, Business Management, or related).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in education or early childhood education, including at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven experience managing a school, preschool, kindergarten, childcare centre, or early learning service.
  • Strong understanding of educational leadership, curriculum implementation, child development, and centre operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in safeguarding, compliance, people management, and operational leadership.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

The Centre Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and daily operations of an RGV-managed school or daycare centre. The role ensures the delivery of high-quality education and care, maintains a safe and nurturing environment for children, and oversees all aspects of educational excellence, operational efficiency, staff performance, enrollment growth, financial performance, and regulatory compliance. Working closely with the Regional Manager and RGV's support teams, the Centre Manager is accountable for achieving the Centre's educational, operational, financial, and community engagement objectives while fostering a culture of professionalism, innovation, continuous improvement, and child wellbeing.

Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Centre.

Lead, mentor, supervise, and develop all Centre staff.

Child Safeguarding, Health & Safety

Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and protection of all children at all times.

Promote a strong culture of safeguarding and child protection throughout the Centre.

Ensure compliance with child safeguarding, child protection, health, safety, and licensing requirements.

Oversee emergency preparedness, incident management, and risk assessments.

Ensure all staff complete mandatory safeguarding, first aid, and compliance training.

Maintain a clean, secure, and child-friendly learning environment.

Operations & Compliance

Manage the day-to-day operations of the Centre.

Ensure compliance with company policies, government regulations, licensing requirements, and educational standards.

Maintain accurate operational records and documentation.

Coordinate inspections, audits, and regulatory reporting.

Oversee facility maintenance, operational resources, and procurement.

Monitor staffing ratios and daily operational requirements.

Manage the Centre's operational budget in collaboration with RGV.

Monitor expenditure, purchasing, and resource utilisation.

Support financial sustainability through effective planning and cost management.

Ensure appropriate use and maintenance of Centre assets and equipment.

Monitor enrollment revenue and operational costs to achieve Centre targets.

Business Growth, Community Engagement & Commercial Performance

The Centre Manager is responsible for ensuring the Centre operates as a financially sustainable, community-focused, and commercially successful business while maintaining the highest standards of education and care.

Responsibilities include:

Deliver Centre financial, enrolment, occupancy, and operational targets.

Translate shareholder and organisational objectives into Centre-level operational goals.

Monitor Centre revenue, occupancy, utilisation, and overall financial performance.

Manage Centre expenditure and purchasing in accordance with approved budgets.

Monitor staffing costs and ensure staffing levels align with enrollment and operational needs.

Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency while maintaining educational quality.

Review monthly financial performance and explain significant variances where required.

Support enrollment growth and maximise occupancy across all Centre programs.

Monitor the performance and profitability of additional programs, including Kids Club, holiday programs, workshops, and enrichment activities.

Identify opportunities to introduce new services, programs, and community initiatives that strengthen both educational outcomes and commercial sustainability.

Monitor local market trends, competitor activity, demographic changes, and community needs to identify opportunities for growth.

Build The Nest's reputation as a trusted community hub for families.

Develop strong partnerships with parents, local businesses, schools, and community organisations.

Lead the planning and delivery of an annual Centre events calendar that strengthens family engagement, community connections, and brand awareness.

Encourage innovation and continuous improvement by identifying opportunities that enhance the Centre's performance, reputation, and long-term sustainability.

Enrolment, Parent & Community Engagement

Support enrollment growth and student retention.

Build strong relationships with children, families, and the wider community.

Respond professionally to parent enquiries, concerns, and feedback.

Promote family engagement through events, meetings, and Centre activities.

Represent the Centre within the local community and maintain positive stakeholder relationships.

Support marketing and enrolment initiatives in collaboration with the Administration, Enrolment & Communications Officer.

Recruit, onboard, supervise, and support Centre staff in collaboration with RGV.

Conduct performance reviews, coaching sessions, and regular staff meetings.

Promote employee wellbeing, engagement, and professional development.

Foster accountability, teamwork, and a culture of continuous learning.

Support succession planning and workforce development.

Reporting & Business Performance

Prepare monthly operational, educational, financial, enrolment, and compliance reports.

Monitor Centre performance against approved budgets, KPIs, and operational objectives.

Report financial performance, staffing, enrolment, compliance, and operational outcomes to the Regional Manager.

Monitor parent feedback, community engagement, and Centre performance indicators.

Identify emerging risks, opportunities, and recommended actions to improve Centre performance.

Communicate significant operational, financial, staffing, or market changes in a timely manner.

Support annual business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Ensure accurate and timely reporting across all operational areas.

About you

Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Educational Leadership, Business Management, or a related discipline

Minimum 5 years' experience in education or early childhood education, including at least 3 years in a leadership or management role

Proven experience managing a school, preschool, kindergarten, childcare centre, or early learning service

Strong understanding of educational leadership, curriculum implementation, child development, and Centre operations

Demonstrated experience in safeguarding, compliance, people management, and operational leadership

Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills

Passionate about children's learning, development, and wellbeing

High ethical standards and professionalism
