Job summary

Benny Mart is seeking an experienced buyer/category specialist to lead the food buying team in strengthening Benny Mart’s food category. You will own sales, margin, and stock health while coordinating with marketing, store operations, and non-food counterparts to execute promotions and planograms.

We value strong negotiation, data-driven decision making, and integrity. 4+ years in retail buying with leadership exposure are preferred for this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Management, Marketing, Business, or a related field
• Minimum 4 years as a buyer, merchandiser, or category specialist in modern retail; food/FMCG experience preferred
• At least 1 year leading a buying team
• Strong in margin analysis, inventory turnover/days of cover, and competitor pricing; proficient in Excel
• Proven experience negotiating directly with principals and distributors (pricing, trading terms, listing, promotions)
• High integrity and decisive, data-driven judgment

Responsibilities

• Own sales, margin, and stock health for the food category
• Lead and develop the food buying team
• Manage assortment: select new products, review performance, and delist underperformers
• Set competitive retail prices in line with Benny Mart’s positioning while protecting margin targets
• Plan purchases based on sales data, seasonality, and events; minimize out-of-stocks, overstock, and dead stock
• Negotiate with suppliers on cost, discounts, trading terms, listing fees, and promotional programs
• Evaluate supplier performance (service level, delivery accuracy, promotional support)
• Coordinate cross-functionally: with the non-food category manager on promotions, marketing communications on store events, and store operations on display and planogram execution
• Report category performance to management regularly
